The Clinton Public School District has once again found itself at the top of the educational ladder in not only state rankings but in a national study.

In a recent study conducted by the Stanford Education Data Archive, state standardized ELA and math test scores for students in grades 3 through 8 were compiled to examine student achievement in all 50 states from 2022 through 2025.

Students in the Clinton Public School District ranked in the 91st percentile in math and in the 90th percentile in reading nationally and led the State of Mississippi in performance and growth.

According to the study, Clinton students found themselves at the top spot in the Magnolia State, performing over 1.5 grade levels above the national average.

“Out of thousands of districts nationwide, Clinton is setting the bar for excellence,” Clinton Public School District Superintendent Dr. Andy Schoggin said. 

Clinton High School’s Arrow Field recently underwent an upgrade in lighting after new LED lights were installed early in August.

The new LED lights, which were installed prior to the start of the 2026 football season, will allow for a brighter playing field, helping to improve both the safety and quality of play for the sports and activities at Arrow field. 

Clinton Public School District’s Director of Facilities and Grounds Christopher Lay said the district will see a dramatic decrease in its energy footprint with these new LED lights.

The Clinton Public School District partnered with PATH and Musco lighting to upgrade the facility, utilizing the same companies the City of Clinton used to upgrade the sports lights at Traceway Park.

“This project is another successful phase of an energy savings initiative to upgrade facilities throughout the District,” Lay said.

Fifth grade students in Kristin Garvey's classes used critical reading skills to study elements and compounds during the early weeks of the 2026-2027 school year.

Clinton High School's College Night will be Wednesday, September 9 from 5:00-6:30 in the CHS Cafeteria. 

Juniors and Seniors can come by themselves, with their parents, or with friends and meet with representatives from different community colleges, four year colleges & universities, military branches, and scholarship organizations!

Sophomores are also invited to attend. 

This year's camp clinic is scheduled for August 29, 2026. The last day to sign up and order a t-shirt is Saturday, August 22, 2026

Parents with students riding the bus to and from school have a new method of keeping up with their child in the morning and in the afternoon.

Clinton Public School District’s Department of Transportation is utilizing The Zonar App that allows parents to keep track of their student’s bus via GPS. 

Parents and guardians can download The Zonar App on both Apple and Android devices through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

In order to utilize the app, parents will enter the CPSD School Access Code, CLI3627. Parents and guardians will then search for their student’s bus route. 

Once that information is inserted, parents and guardians will need to enter their student’s Student ID number.

The Clinton High School men's cross country team pieced together a winning performance in its season opener Thursday, August 13, at the Ole Brook Invitational.

Godwin Onyia led the Arrows with a second-place finish, while Clinton placed all five of its scoring runners inside the top seven to claim the team victory in the 5,000-meter race.

Clinton finished with a team average time of 17:54. Onyia paced the Arrows with a time of 17:00.5, followed by Elijah Waldo-Speth in third place at 17:48.9 and Noah Duncan in fourth at 18:04.8.

CJHS returns to competition this Thursday at the Clinton Junior Arrows Meet on the campus of Clinton High School. Racing begins at 5:30 p.m.

The CHS Arrows return to action on Saturday, August 29, at the Southern Heatwave Classic in Brandon. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.

The Clinton Arrows Swim Team (CAST) kicked off their first squad meet of the season, facing Madison Central, Germantown, Northwest Rankin, and Ridgeland at the Malcolm McArthur Meet at the Cypress Lake Swimming Pool on Saturday, August 15.

Despite the intense heat and challenging conditions, the Arrows represented Clinton with grit and teamwork. The women's team finished fourth, and the men's team earned third, marking a strong start to the season.

CAST swimmers delivered standout performances. Twelve athletes and four relay teams secured qualifying times for the MHSAA Class III North State Swim Meet to be held October 3 in Cleveland.

CAST returns to action to the Madison Central-hosted swim meet at G.R.I.T. Training Swimming Pool on Saturday, August 29, in Flowood.

The Clinton High School baseball program is inviting the community to tee it up in support of the Arrows during its annual Fundraiser Golf Tournament on Friday, October 2, at Live Oaks Golf Club in Jackson.

Team entry for the four-person scramble is $500, with the first 40 paid teams securing a spot in the tournament. Participants can also purchase hole sponsorships, mulligan packages, and compete in a variety of on-course contests throughout the day.

All proceeds benefit the Clinton High School baseball program.

The 2026-27 athletic year is just around the corner, and Arrow fans can secure admission to every regular-season home contest with a Clinton Athletics All-Sports Pass.

The Clinton Athletics Department would like to remind fans of important Arrow Field and Clinton Public School District (CPSD) athletic facility guidelines.

These policies apply to all athletic facilities operated by CPSD, including Arrow Field, the Clinton High School and CJHS gyms, Arrow Baseball Field, Arrow Tennis Courts, and Lady Arrow Softball Field.

Facility Guidelines:

• Students will not be allowed to bring backpacks in the stadium, gymnasium, or fields.
• Adults may bring necessary bags such as diaper bags and other necessary bags
• Children and students in 8th grade or below must be accompanied by a parent or adult to enter the facility.
• Adults supervising students are responsible for student behavior during the event.
• Anyone failing to follow these facilities guidelines will be asked to leave the game and premises.

Let's continue to make Arrow Field and all CPSD athletic facilities a safe and family-friendly environment for all fans.
