CPSD uses WBGT monitoring during extreme summer heat

As the 2026-27 athletic year approaches, Clinton Athletics continues to monitor Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) conditions to make informed decisions regarding practices and competitions, with student-athlete safety remaining the department's top priority.

Unlike a standard thermometer reading, WBGT measures environmental heat stress by combining several factors, including air temperature, humidity, direct sunlight, wind speed, and radiant heat.

These policies apply to all athletic facilities operated by CPSD, including Arrow Field, the Clinton High School and CJHS gyms, Arrow Baseball Field, Arrow Tennis Courts, and Lady Arrow Softball Field.

Facility Guidelines:

  • Students will not be allowed to bring backpacks in the stadium, gymnasium, or fields.
