POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Executive Director (ED) is the senior staff management position of the Arts Center organization responsible for the successful leadership and administrative operations management of the Arts Center according to the strategic direction of the Board of Directors. 
The Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center offers programing for everyone, young and old, locals and visitors alike. The arts enrich our lives in countless ways, and we hope you find something here that brings you joy!
BUSINESS BASICS FOR THE ARTIST: THE PRACTICAL SIDE OF EMBRACING YOUR TALENT

CIGAR BOX WORKSHOP

Create unique artwork using a cigar box, wallpaper and an object. Power tools (Dremels, drills, etc.) will be provided along with cigar boxes, wallpaper, and objects. You may bring small objects of your choice to incorporate into your artwork.
THE ART OF ENCAUSTICS MINI WORKSHOP

FIELDS OF FLOWERS IN PASTEL

This workshop will focus on painting the landscape with an emphasis on fields of flowers. Demonstration and instruction will be in pastel and will include a watercolor under-painting technique. Materials list will be emailed.
WORLD DRUMMING

Join Cate School music instructor for drumming in our courtyard during the Carpinteria Farmer’s Market. Discover percussion styles from around the globe with this fun, interactive group drumming class. No experience necessary.
VIKING KNIT BRACELETS AND CHAINS

Presenter: Paula Gregoire-Jones

Design and create single-knit Viking chains from colored wire using a tool you will make from a dowel and wire. Learn to attach cones, beads, and a clasp to your chain to make a bracelet or necklace. Also explore another variations such as double or triple Viking knit or work with two wires together for a heathery look. No experience necessary, all materials included. Bring reading glasses for close-up work.
WATERCOLOR: VIBRANT AND COMPOSED

Through demonstrations, lecture, and playful splashing of watercolor, come learn techniques to create vibrant and well-designed paintings. Students will be introduced to other media that can complement watercolor and enhance old paintings in need of assistance. SKETCH JOURNALING BOTH OUTSIDE AND INSIDE THE ARTS CENTER

Enjoy sketch journaling both “inside and out.” Our first meeting will be outside with a “walk about,” stopping to sketch, jot notes, and create art memories. The second meeting we will take our time sketching “found objects” or items in the gallery. Materials list sent upon registration.

THE AUTRY MUSEUM OF THE WEST

Join us to discover the art, history and cultures of the American West. Located in beautiful Griffith Park, the museum features world-class galleries filled with paintings, film memorabilia, Native American Art, and more! It was also voted “Favorite Museum” 2014-2018 by Los Angeles Daily News readers. Our Santa Barbara Airbus will leave from the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Art Center at 8:30 am on Wednesday October 16, to arrive for a docent-led tour, time to stroll galleries independently, and grab lunch (cost not included) in the Crossroads West Cafe. Return time to Carpinteria will be about 3:30 or 4:00 PM.
