Oolong Gallery is thrilled to become a new gallery member with NADA and present an Art Basel booth rooted in the Berlin aughts: Markus Bacher, Marcel Eichner, Bas Louter, Hiroshi McDonald Mori all emerged with career defining moments in Berlin, Germany (CFA Berlin, Autocenter Berlin and more) starting in the 2000s. Oolong founder Eric Laine also studied and grew up there partially dating back to before the fall of the Berlin Wall and up to a gentrifying, renewed capital city. These works were chosen for the power and impact imbued by each artist.

Oolong Gallery would like to take a moment to congratulate Markus Bacher coming off a museum retrospective Ortswechsel in his native Austria at the private collection Sammlung Renner Lanjus. Dutch artist and Rijksakademie graduate Bas Louter is currently on view at the gallery in San Diego with ZUCKERZEIT, from which two iconic spray paint grid paintings will be on display in Miami. Joerg Immendorff's former student Marcel Eichner, still based in Berlin, is featuring for the second time after his Del Mar residency and massive off-site show at SWC Gallery Chula Vista curated by Oolong last year — a Breuer building homage setting where John Baldessari began long ago. Last but not least, Rancho Santa Fe native Hiroshi McDonald Mori recently exhibited in the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art and Yerevan Museum of Modern Art. He lived thirteen years in Berlin, after his Bard MFA and Skowhegan residency, making and exhibiting sculptures & salt prints we are showing in his first art fair participation at NADA Miami 2025.
