GLASSBLOWING

Join us in beautiful Glasgow Park and work with a resident glass artist to blow your own glass piece with McFadden Art Glass’s Mobile Glassblowing Studio. Each participant will be directly involved in the glassblowing process to create a one-of-a-kind piece. Choose from the following glass project options: pumpkin, flower, ornament, cup. Each time slot is an hour long and is limited to five people. Projects must cool and can be picked up at Glasgow Park’s Frazier House on a later date. Please note this program runs outside and is dependent on weather. If there is inclement weather in the forecast, participants will be notified, and the class must be rescheduled.

KIDS BEGINNER'S STAINED GLASS

First learn how to ice dye. Create a one-of-a-kind pattern, creating unique works of beauty that you can wear or display around your home. In the second class learn how to indigo dye. The fabric first comes out of the dye bath bright green and turns to deep blue right before your eyes. Dye and choice of 1 item per day to dye is provided. We'll cover all the steps, from prep to finish, as well as review the many ways to refresh and restyle your home with a pot of paint, a few basic tools, and some imagination! Come and explore this ancient technique of painting on fabric. Batik is an Indonesian technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth. Batik uses layers of wax and dye to produce designs on fabric. Learn how to prepare your fabric, apply wax-resist, paint with dye and finish your piece. Leave with a beautiful one-of-a-kind scarf. Additional $20 material fee.

MANDALA ART RETREAT

Explore the beauty of the natural world using a variety of printmaking techniques in this easy and enjoyable class. Printmaking has been around since ancient times as not only an artform but also as a scientific tool to record plants for research. In printmaking an image is created on one surface and then transferred to paper, like using a stamp or a stencil. Learn different printmaking processes, such as relief and monotype, while creating pictures of landscapes, flowers, insects and other nature themes. With some basic art supplies and some easy techniques, using simple lines, shapes and repetitive patterns we will create small dynamic works of art, and maybe we can lift your mood, clear your mind and boost your creativity. Join us on the 1st Saturday of each month from 10am-12pm for an art lesson and guided art project. A new art project will be offered each session and the materials are included. Preregistration is preferred. Ideal for children ages 6+ and their families! All children must be accompanied by an adult.
