WELCOME Unity Lewis
New ACPC Board Member

ACPC is proud to welcome its newest Board Member, Unity Lewis.

What draws you to the Arts?
I come from a long line of artists on both sides of my family. My Grandmother on my father's side is Dr. Samella Lewis, a renowned artist, art historian, and art educator. My Grandfather on my mother’s side was Andrew Jones, an amazing painter, jeweler, and builder. So both my parents and many of my aunts, uncles, and cousins have interests and involvement in the Arts on various levels.

Tell us a little known fact about yourself
Oakland and the bay area now have many programs in kindergarten through university that are focused on HipHop Education, or educating through HipHop, but I am the first, along with my colleague Bayaté Ross Smith, to teach HipHop as an elective, during actual school hours. We bought our class at Arts Far West in Oakland California.
