Shellfish are beneficial because they filter bay water and provide habitats for other species. Bellport Artist, Katia Ramsey Read and Gallery 125 will donate a percentage from art sales to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County who, with The Town of Brookhaven and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, will develop a plan to plant oysters and ribbed mussels around islands and marshes in Bellport Bay.
