July Fourth is behind us and it was one for the books! Festive events, BBQs, gathering with family and friends, Independence Day Weekend is always one for creating great memories. Now, Hamptons towns are bustling with summer crowds, and the heat and sunshine are finally here to stay! We are coming up on the middle of the 2023 season and it's been quite eventful so far but there is still plenty to do as we head toward the second half of summer! Keep reading for all that I think you'll love to know about as we close out July.

Fifty Isn’t the End: A 50th Birthday Concert to Benefit the Montauk Point Lighthouse


Rufus Wainwright's milestone birthday is here! "Fifty Isn't The End" takes place on July 13th at 7pm and will benefit the Montauk Point Lighthouse with amazing guest performances by Jimmy Fallon, Tig Notaro, Laurie Anderson and more.

Hamptons Fine Art Fair


Welcoming art lovers from across the globe to Southampton Fairgrounds, the Hamptons Fine Art Fair returns for another year. The event features 20th and 21st century art from over 70 international art galleries, all available for immediate acquisition. Over 400 artists will be on display at this "only in the Hamptons" experience. No matter what spurs your love for art - collecting, decorating, admiring - the HFAF has treasures for everyone. This year's event will take place July 13th through 16th, with varying hours on each day.

"Forgotten Founders: David Hempstead, Senior" Documentary Screening at Sag Harbor Cinema


Directed by Sam Hamilton and Julian Alvarez, "Forgotten Founders: David Hempstead, Senior" will be shown at Sag Harbor Cinema on July 16th at 11am. The documentary follows the life of Hempstead from slavery to freedom on the East End and is part of the cinema's Forgetting to Remember” collaboration with the Plain Sight Project. Alvarez hopes that "by diving into the in-depth story of a single person who should be considered this amazing, successful, heroic, historical founder of this community, we highlight that there were many others that, unfortunately, we’ve forgotten to remember.” The screening is free but registration is required.

The Guild Hall Clothesline Art Sale


Since its inception in 1946, Guild Hall's Clothesline Art Sale has been one of the most beloved and affordable art events on the East End. One of my absolute favorites, the annual fundraiser event features over 300 artists with works ranging from $75 to $3,500 and is a wonderful way of providing accessible artwork to our community. This year's event will take place on July 22nd at 9am at Guild Hall in East Hampton.

Southampton Cultural Center Concerts in the Park


The 38th season of Southampton Cultural Center's Concerts in the Park is here! Every summer, SCC sponsors a series of concerts in Agawam Park and at Coopers Beach. Here is the lineup:

East Hampton Village Outdoor Movies


Every Wednesday through August 16th, Hamptons International Film Festival will host a movie under the stars in Herrick Park or on Main Beach at 8:30pm - for free! If you'd like to reserve a front-row spot, the $50 cost will will support Hamptons International Film Festival's year-round education and community programs. Here are the upcoming screenings:

Summer Fashion in the Hamptons

Napeague Clam Bar Stays in the Family


For the first time in 40 years, he Napeague Clam Bar has changed owners, but it's staying in the family. Kelly Piccinnini, daughter of the Clam Bar's original owner Betsy Flinn, and her husband John purchased the restaurant. According to them, the Clam Bar will keep it's no-frills legacy while adding some creative menu items and fun twists" to the menu.

The American Hotel Earns Wine Spectator Prize


Wine Spectator has announced its 2023 restaurant awards and, unsurprisingly, The American Hotel in Sag Harbor has taken home top honors. The coveted Grand Award (a three glass icon) was given to The American Hotel's restaurant for their impressive wine list, which has a cellar inventory of some 30,000 bottles. Also worth mentioning are Pierre’s in Bridgehampton and Stone Creek Inn in East Quogue, which were the only area winners in the two-glass Best of Award Excellence category.
