Important art drop-off times & review of rules:
Thursday, April 26, 4 - 6 p.m.
Friday, April 27, 10 a.m. - Noon

  • ARTWORK ID TAGS - MUST BE taped on the back of the art piece in the upper right hand corner.
  • For ENTRY SIZE, USE THE OVERALL FRAMED SIZE (not art work size), Measure W x H and only use the depth (D) for any 3-D piece. 
  • Use ONLY wire hangers (no saw tooth hangers) for hanging all 2-D artwork. NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Small, delicate and fragile 3-D art (earrings, paper sculpture, etc) must be encased or framed and ready to hang or place on a flat table top or pedestal surface.
  • All artwork must fit through show location doors.
  • All painted artwork must be completely dry and for watercolors, pastels, charcoal or other drawing mediums covered with clear glass or plexiglass to avoid damage or smearing during intake/hanging at the show.
  • Hanging artwork wider than 36 inches and/or heavier than 8 lbs requires special consideration. A sturdy easel must be provided by the artist for displaying this type of artwork.
  • Artwork CANNOT be removed prior to the closing of show. NO EXCEPTIONS.  
We need volunteers to:
  • Man the art intake sign-in desk to give the artists their art work labels on Thursday and Friday.
  • Help move the display panels into the gallery
  • Hang and place paintings
  • Hang ribbons after the judge picks the winners on Saturday morning.
  • Take down panels and help clean-up the show room after the event

  • One artist will be chosen by the City of Sugar Land to hang in one of their "Art in Public Spaces" locations
IAA Members Only Exhibit - Month of May
Art drop off same as for the judged show
The City of Sugar Land has invited the members of the Imperial Art Alliance to exhibit their work for the entire month of May at the Sugar Land Heritage Museum & Visitor Center. The show will begin immediately following the Judged Art Show on April 28. Each member will be allowed two pieces. You may show pieces that don't qualify for the judged show or you may leave pieces from the show to hang for the month. More details will follow soon.
Anyone who joins the Imperial Art Alliance now, you're membership will carry over to the 2018-19 year. We operate on a fiscal year, September thru June. Next year marks the 35th anniversary of the Imperial Art Alliance. We are so excited to have you with us as celebrate the rich history of this organization in the local art community.

On April 21 Demo artist Fahmi Khan presented Mixed Media Stocking Sculpture Here's a peek into the hands-on demo this past Saturday. It was entertaining and very informative. You should've been there.
This project will solicit artists to design artwork to “wrap” around eleven traffic boxes along HW90 between Interstate HW 59 and HW6. Artists will submit a design based on the specifications outlined in the open call  Traffic Box Wrap RFP.
