The Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft are critical to NASA’s Artemis exploration plans for the Moon. And the Exploration Ground Systems encompass all of the operations essential to getting SLS and Orion off the ground.
 
This week, we're exploring the components that make up the backbone of NASA's Artemis missions.

'Rocket Science in 60 Seconds' gives a quick, inside look at work being done at NASA to explore deep space like never before, one minute at a time.

Try starting with the one titled "NASA’s New Deep-Space Exploration Rocket." 
For Grades K-5

Design and build a mobile launcher platform that is light enough to be moved to the launch pad, but strong enough to hold the weight of the rocket.
For Grades 6-8

Student teams design and build a crew module model that will secure two small astronaut figures during a drop test.

Join us on Wednesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. EDT, to bring the concept of Orion to reality in your classroom with Design a Crew Module, a hands-on activity from the Crew Transportation With Orion educator guide. In this session, participants will learn about the engineering design process and how to build a model of Orion’s Crew Module.

A companion student session will be held the following day, Thursday, April 21, at 10 a.m. EDT.
