Article Request for
The Hands & Voices Communicator Newspaper
California Hands & Voices submits articles to
The Communicator, Hands & Voices newspaper four times a year. Parents, Professionals and DHH adults/teens all are invited to get involved.

We are always looking for up to the minute information on what’s new in deaf education, research, practices, technology and access. Submissions should support our mission and philosophical values of non-biased and non-judgmental family support.

We especially look for thought-provoking pieces that illustrate the strengths and needs of our current educational systems, from birth to age 21.

When sharing your own story it is ideal to represent it personally. Use personal pronouns like “our family experienced this…,” or “that is how I feel.” and it also can be very helpful to point out that there are different views on the issue, and that you’re only representing your own experience. Like a reporter, If you are writing objectively about an issue, your story will be balanced on both sides of the subject.

The Communicator, Hands & Voices influences policy, supports parent advocates, and connects families and professionals to both the day to day experience of raising a deaf or hard of hearing child and to our shared experience no matter where we live. We thank you and look forward to your contributions.

Please Note: Depending on how many articles are received for a particular edition some articles may be added to the Hands & Voices Blog here instead of
The Communicator newspaper due to layout, space etc.

We value your submission and Thank You in advance.

Please let us know if you have any questions!
