Later in the month, kinship will offer “Brickwall Sessions” for family history researchers needing a bit of assistance with their research efforts.  The WCHS is also partnering with the Maryland Theatre for an exclusive showing of “The Education of Johnny Schnell,” a 1960’s era propaganda film designed to introduce those behind the Iron Curtain to the life of a typical American, a South High student. The month will conclude with a Genealogy Workshop for Kids. It is free and will help the younger generation get a head start in learning about their family histories.

Zoso
November 3, 2018 at 7:30 pm

Zoso -The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience formed in 1995 to perform the most accurate and captivating Led Zeppelin live show since the real thing. For Zoso, it’s much more than just being a tribute. It’s about touching a golden era in music. Zoso embodies Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones in their spirit, tightly wound talent and authenticity. Each band member has been carefully selected to portray both the appearance and playing styles of their Led Zeppelin counterparts. In eighteen successful years of touring, they have perfected their art. As one of the longest tenured Zeppelin tributes, Zoso’s 2400 live shows around the world, including a slot at Bonnaroo in 2003, have established them as the most traveled and successful band in the market. Zoso’s live shows are not about simply playing the right notes, they are about aura and feeling, harkening back to the unique atmosphere Led Zeppelin created. It’s in the way they play: Each band member’s mastery of authentic vintage instruments coupled with spot on vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, their compelling stage persona and distinct Led Zeppelin sound, with astounding visual imagery recreates the music, magic, and mystery of a Zeppelin concert. The impact is so powerful that band members constantly hear from young rockers that they were the catalyst behind turning them into new, die-hard Zeppelin fans.

The Potomac Playmakers announce the second show of the Playmakers’ 2018-2019 Season, the classic Mary Chase comedy, “Harvey!” Elwood P. Dowd insists on including his friend Harvey in all of his sister Veta’s social gatherings. Trouble is, Harvey is an imaginary six-and-a-half-foot-tall rabbit. To avoid future embarrassment for her family—and especially for her daughter, Myrtle Mae—Veta decides to have Elwood committed to a sanitarium. At the sanitarium, a frantic Veta explains to the staff that her years of living with Elwood’s hallucination have caused her to see Harvey also, and so the doctors mistakenly commit her instead of her mild-mannered brother. The truth comes out, however; Veta is freed, and the search is on for Elwood, who eventually arrives at the sanitarium of his own volition, looking for Harvey. But, it seems that Elwood and his invisible companion have had a strange influence on more than one of the doctors. Only at the end does Veta realize that maybe Harvey isn’t so bad after all!

Produced with kind permission from Dramatists Play Service and funded in part by a generous grant from The Washington County Arts Council, “Harvey” is directed by Cathy James, and stars Tom Doty, Debbie Fitzsimmons, Amy Fox, Lori Goodnow, Andrew King, Kevin Richardson, Jake Smith, Sam Sprecht, Rachael Thompson, and Jim Zuna. “Harvey” will be performed November 9-11, 2018 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 35 W. Potomac Street, Williamsport, Maryland 21795. Showtimes for the Friday and Saturday performances will be at 8:00 p.m., while the Sunday matinee will begin at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $15, and are available online at   www.potomacplaymakers.org  or at the door.

Tim Hawkins
 at The Maryland Theatre
presented by the Boys & Girls Club
of Washington County
Saturday, November 17, 2018 • 3:00pm & 7:00pm

Since giving up his job as a grocery truck driver in 2002, Tim Hawkins has been establishing himself as one of the most in-demand comedians in the country. With 300,000,000 video views online and over 100 sold-out concerts every year, his Jackwagon Crew has grown into a revolution of multi-generational proportions. But don’t take it from us...

Tim's gut-busting comedy show entertains the entire family while doubling down on the funny, a daunting task in an age where the obscene has become routine. His act is 1 part gifted + 2 parts twisted, the only certainty being his on-the-nose observations that expose the ridiculousness of daily life while marveling in its hilarity. The perils of marriage, homeschooling, and growing up in the Midwest may not exemplify the rock star life, but they make for really good punchlines.

Sure he's funny, but fans are often even more amazed at his singing voice and guitar chops. Tim's hilarious music videos have brought him viral YouTube fame with fan favorites including The Chick-fil-A Song, Yoga Pants, Aging Rockers, Things You Don’t Say to Your Wife, Cletus Take the Reel, A Homeschool Family, and The Government Can. Still, Tim is no rock star: "It's not like I have a choice. Comedy is my only life skill."

Tim reminds us that for life's many difficulties, laughter is always the best medicine – when the medication runs out. He just released his 9th comedy DVD, "Just About Enough". Tim lives in Missouri with his wife and four crud muffins.

Carol of the King - The Irish Dance
Christmas Spectacular
Monday, December 17, 2018 at 7:00pm

Carol of the King, The Irish Dance Christmas Spectacular is led by former lead dancer from Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance and founder of Two Step Productions, Justin Boros. Two Step Productions also created the smash hit and fastest growing Irish dance show in the U.S., Rhythm in the Night, The Irish Dance Spectacular, which continues to tour every Spring and set records across the county. Two Step Productions is bringing the two biggest things in the world together for the very first time, Irish dance and Christmas, to turn an age-old tradition into the first ever Irish dance Christmas spectacular the whole family will enjoy!

Winter has fallen across the land. King Solomon and his kingdom prepare for the Christmas season celebration. While cold winds caress the landscape, one gust brought an unearthly chill not felt before. The dark sorceress Circe and her ghostly legion known as The Frost are upon the land. She has trapped the legendary King Solomon under her spell in an attempt to steal the throne and expel Christmas once and for all. Unable to free himself and carry forth the holiday spirit, hope remains lost for all those in the kingdom...until now.

In a brave effort to rescue their king and preserve the spirit of the season, the kingdom has called upon Solomon's loving companion Brighid, his younger brother Aidan and the Guardians to restore harmony to the land. With the frigid forces attempting to break the will of the crown and banish Christmas for eternity, will darkness reign or will victory be seized from Circe's icy grip in the legend that has come to be known as Carol of the King.
