The Washington County Arts Council presents two exhibits in November 2015:

"Donna Ward Lehman: Re-Imagined Items" and
"Carl Wright: From Ephemeral to Solid".

The exhibits run through December 1, 2015






The Washington County Arts Council, Inc. hosts its
"Annual Community Art Show: The Best Local Art of 2015."
The juried community art exhibit will run from December 4, 2015 through December 30, 2015 with an opening reception on Friday, December 4 from 5pm to 7pm.

Jurors are R. Benjamin Jones and Benita Keller.
Awards sponsored by the Hagerstown Arts & Entertainment District and supported by The City of Hagerstown.
 


 
The Washington County Arts Council (WCAC), along with the committee members of the Western Maryland Blues Fest (WMBF), are pleased to invite visual artists, including local artists of Western Maryland and the surrounding area, to answer a "Call to Artists" for the opportunity of becoming the 2016 Blues Fest Poster Artist. Deadline: November 13, 2015 @ Noon.

Convention & Visitors Bureau wins
"Best Digital Marketing Campaign" at
Maryland Tourism Coalition's annual Travel & Tourism Summit

Visit Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau recently brought home the award for Best Digital Marketing Campaign at the annual Maryland Tourism Coalition's Tourism and Travel Summit. Visit Hagerstown accepted the award, during the conference's Annual Awards Banquet held Thursday, October 29, at the Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, MD.

Since his 2008 major label debut, Matt Maher has become a staple in the artistic and songwriting community. A five time-GRAMMY® nominee, he has garnered multiple radio successes writing and recording songs like "Lord, I Need You," "Hold Us Together," "Christ Is Risen," "All The People Said Amen," and "Your Grace Is Enough." Maher has penned songs recorded by Chris Tomlin, Crowder, Third Day, Matt Redman, Hillsong, Passion and Meredith Andrews, among others.
"I Am They" Opening Act: Hailing from Carson City, Nevada, I AM THEY has roots as a worship team based out of a community of various area churches. The band's 6-piece sound is propelled by versatile musicianship and anchored by three-part vocal harmonies.

The Importance of Being Earnest
Come share in the laughs as Maryland Entertainment Group (MEG) presents Oscar Wilde's classic comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest. Pianist Sara Buechner
to Perform with the Maryland Symphony Orchestr

Sara Davis Buechner, a major prizewinner of many of the world's most prestigious international piano competitions, will be the Maryland Symphony Orchestra's guest artist for two performances of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major, Op. 58 on Saturday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 8 at 3 p.m. at the historic Maryland Theatre in downtown Hagerstown. The MSO will also perform The Unanswered Question by Charles Ives, The Unquestioned Answer by Cindy McTee, and Death and Transfiguration by Richard Strauss.

Auditions for Ira Levin's DEATHTRAP


Auditions for Ira Levin's DEATHTRAP will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday November 8th at The Washington County Playhouse Dinner Theater and Children's Theater, 44 N. Potomac St., REAR, Hagerstown, MD.
Deathtrap is directed by Shawn R. Martin and runs January 15 - Feb 20 2016.
Most roles are non-union paid. Service staff opportunities are also available.

Maryland artist R. Benjamin Jones is an accomplished painter portraying scenes from his native Maryland, the state's Eastern Shore, the Amish of Lancaster County (PA), New England, and a trip to Florence and Tuscany, Italy. He seeks to portray the gentle beauty of the world in his paintings of delicate flowers, New England streets and harbors, Amish faces, rough Chesapeake Bay watermen and rose-covered cottages along island roads. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Mr. Jones studied at the Maryland Institute of Fine Arts in Baltimore, the University of Maryland and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.
Mr. Jones' works have been shown in many galleries and museums including the Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk, Hurlbutt Gallery in Greenwich, Greenwich Art Society, Greenwich Workshop in Southport, McBride Gallery in Annapolis, The Greenbrier, Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, Washington County Arts Council, Baltimore Museum of Arts and The Smithsonian.

As Joe Bonamassa enters his 26th year as a professional musician, he continues to blaze a remarkably versatile artistic trail, and amass an authentic, innovative and soulful body of work.  Bonamassa's career began onstage opening for B.B. King in 1989, when he was only 12 years old. Today, he is hailed worldwide as one of the greatest guitar players of his generation, and is an ever-evolving singer-songwriter who has released 17 solo albums in the last 15 years, all on his own label, J&R Adventures.  He founded and oversees the non-profit Keeping The Blues Alive Foundation to promote the heritage of the blues to the next generation, fund music scholarships, and supplement the loss of music education in public schools.
