Governor's Citation

MSAC Awards Hagerstown A&E

Hagerstown's Arts & Entertainment District was awarded this year's Outstanding Achievement Award by the Maryland State Arts Council. This award is only given to one district each year. Hagerstown was awarded this honor at the March 18, 2014 Annual Meeting of the Arts & Entertainment Districts at Joe's Movement Emporium in the Gateway Art & Entertainment District Tuesday afternoon.

April 2014 "3 Teachers" Exhibit

Highlighting the photography, paintings and pottery of Todd Geiman, Doris Hoopengardner & Don Viar. The show will run from March 28 through April 29, 2014.


An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at the Gallery. This event is free and open to the public. Exhibition hours are: Tuesdays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The gallery is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Bottles for Dolphins   
During the "3 Teachers" Exhibit, artist Todd Geiman will be selling special pottery.

Mr. Geiman is an artist as well as a committed environmentalist and animal rights activist.  He enjoys creating art to promote positive change and will donate 30% of his artist's proceeds from the sale of "Bottles for Dolphins" to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. 


Support The Washington County Arts Council through Washington County Gives on May 6, 2014!

On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, Washington County Gives will provide local nonprofits with the opportunity to receive money from area residents as well as have the opportunity for matched and bonus dollars throughout the 24-hours to put toward their operating budgets.


The Community Foundation is sponsoring this event, along with the Hershey Family Fund, The Alice Virginia and David W. Fletcher Foundation, Inc., the Waltersdorf Family Fund and the Pauline Anderson Foundation. Media sponsors are the Herald-Mail, Leitersburg Cinemas, High Rock Studios, Verstandig Broadcasting (104.7, 101.5, 92.1 & 1380 AM) and WHAG.

Attorney Profile: Henry Abromson

Henry 'Hank" Abromson is a Maryland attorney practicing with the Corporate & Securities Practice Group of Miles & Stockbridge P.C. in its Frederick, Maryland office.  He represents individuals, artists, entertainers and established and emerging businesses in general corporate matters, including corporate entity selection, federal and state trademark, copyright, and trade secret protection, contract negotiation and drafting, as well as e-commerce and cyber-law matters such as domain name disputes, software license agreements, and website agreements. Mr. Abromson regularly works with artists, authors and entertainers, providing counsel to them regarding the protection of their intellectual property rights, their rights in and to works of joint authorship and works made for hire, and their business disputes related to their works.  Additionally, Mr. Abromson is the Chair of the Intellectual Property & Technology Law Section of the Frederick Bar Association.
Mr. Abromson received his J.D. from Marquette University Law School and his M.B.A. from Marquette University Graduate School. Mr. Abromson graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Marketing and a minor in Informational Systems and Statistical Analysis.
