The public is invited to a free special event at the Alice Virginia and David W. Fletcher branch of the Washington County Free Library. On Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 4:00pm, the Board of Trustees will unveil a sculpture commissioned to A. Tobias 'Toby" Mendez to celebrate the community's response to the Alice Virginia and David W. Fletcher branch library.

A world-renown sculptor and Washington County native, Mr. Mendez was inspired to create a bronze bas relief to reflect one of the themes found in the design of the Fletcher branch.  This theme represents the history of transportation in Washington County.  "Our Journey Transports Us Through Time" depicts four predominate transportation related modes including a C&O Canal boat with mule team, a Fairchild C-119 Flying Box Car, a nickel plate locomotive #759,

and a circa 1970 Mack RL700 truck.

This bas relief, made possible through the generous support of approximately twenty-five donors,
will be on permanent display in the rear plaza entrance of the
Alice Virginia and David W. Fletcher branch library at 100 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD, 21740.

The Barbara Ingram School for the Arts presents

Shrek The Musical

at The Maryland Theatre
April 17, 18, 19 & 24, 25, 26, 2015

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film,Shrek The Musical being produced by Barbara Ingram School for the Arts, is a TONY Award-winning fairy tale adventure featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrekbrings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage, and proves there's more to the story than meets the Ears.

This is a tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, many other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek.  Join more than seventy - five Barbara Ingram students as they bring to life this fun loving story!
