The Washington County Arts Council, the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts and the Hagerstown A & E District with support from the City of Hagerstown extend appreciation to the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, (supported by the Maryland State Arts Council) and to Hank Abromson, of Miles & Stockbridge PC (Frederick Office) for his presentation on "COPYRIGHT BASICS FOR ARTISTS" on Saturday, April 5, 2014! So much information was shared with great questions and dialogue.

"Wind Down, Downtown Hagerstown, MARYLAND" is the new downtown monthly event in conjunction with The Maryland Theatre, The Washington County Arts Council and the City of Hagerstown.....that is fun for all ages. The first event, on Friday May 9, 2014 offers artists the ART MARKET, a venue to demonstrate and sell their art while enjoying local food, beverages and entertainment.


The Washington County Arts Council (WCAC), along with the committee members of the Wind Down, Downtown Hagerstown, MARYLAND, are pleased to invite visual artists to answer a "Call to Artists" for the opportunity of be a part of this new juried event 2014 ART MARKET on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6:00 pm-9:00 pm to be held in conjunction with Wind Down, Downtown Hagerstown, MARYLAND.

April 2014 "3 Teachers" Exhibit

Highlighting the photography, paintings and pottery of Todd Geiman, Doris Hoopengardner & Don Viar. The show continues through April 29, 2014.


Exhibition hours are: Tuesdays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The gallery is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Bottles for Dolphins   
During the "3 Teachers" Exhibit, artist Todd Geiman is selling special pottery.

Mr. Geiman is an artist as well as a committed environmentalist and animal rights activist.  He enjoys creating art to promote positive change and will donate 30% of his artist's proceeds from the sale of "Bottles for Dolphins" to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

24 hour on-line giving event for nonprofits

On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, Washington County Gives will provide local nonprofits with the opportunity to receive money from area residents as well as have the opportunity for matched and bonus dollars throughout the 24-hours to put toward their operating budgets.


The Community Foundation is sponsoring this event, along with the Hershey Family Fund, The Alice Virginia and David W. Fletcher Foundation, Inc., the Waltersdorf Family Fund and the Pauline Anderson Foundation. Media sponsors are the Herald-Mail, Leitersburg Cinemas, High Rock Studios, Verstandig Broadcasting (104.7, 101.5, 92.1 & 1380 AM) and WHAG.
