For over fifty years, David Nash has produced sculptures and related works that respond to the inherent properties of wood—carving, sawing, charring, and casting it in bronze to explore his chosen medium and our relationship to the larger landscape.
In addition to a recent major career retrospective at the National Museum Cardiff, Wales and the Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne, England, Nash has been the subject of major exhibitions at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield; Kew Gardens, London; Royal Academy of Arts, London; and Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, Michigan. His work has been collected by institutions such as the Guggenheim Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; and the Tate Modern and Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
