Drawing from the human form is a fundamental practice for Oakland artist Fernando Reyes. Employing a confident, decisive and energetic line when drawing the figure has been a mainstay in his work.

THE FIGURE PROGRESSES includes early works from 2000 to present. Throughout the years, Fernando has explored ways that morph representational aspects of the figure with abstract elements. This exhibition is a survey in painting, printmaking and drawing that illuminates how Fernando has evolved in working abstraction as a component of his figure work. The traditional methodology, however, produces works that are completely contemporary.
