Together

Two Friends III

Astonished and in awe of the gift

that is theirs to share with each other.

To walk side by side, come what may.

Through high water and low clouds.

To be able to call out the beauty that

surrounds them even though they walk through a deluge. This is what friends do.

Thank you to everyone who came to my book launch and reading last weekend. The support was wonderful! photo by AnnBritt Malden

Jeff Goldblum, speaking to Stephen Colbert

I do find myself coming back to this quote by George Bernard Shaw. He says this is the true joy in life, being used for a purpose. Being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of elements and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and while I live, it is my privilege to do whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die. For the harder I work the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me. It’s a sort of splendid torch that I’ve got hold up for the moment and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it onto future generations.

Happy Solstice

Hooray for the return of the light!

At the beginning of the Covid lockdown in March of 2020, I began sending Art Lifts Postcards out every other day. Then in 2021 I sent them twice a week and sometime around 2022, I began sending them once a week, then every two weeks. Now I am sending these Postcard Musings out about every three weeks. The Art Lifts Postcards keeps me focused and grounded with my art purpose/process and it is a wonderful way to stay connected with you. Thank you all for sticking with me. And thank you to those who have joined me recently. It is a labor of love, and a belief that art can lift and nourish our hearts and spirit. This is why I continue to do them.
