A Mississippi native, Rayburn, has made a living at
what he loves to do.
Being true to whatever idea he wishes to portray is the artistic integrity of his creative whims. Dale is known for his southern landscapes and the portraitures of wizened, seasoned characters.
With the influence of Rembrandt, Thomas Akins, and Edward Harper, he applies emphasis on line quality and on the interplay of positive space to create reflections on places and people he was influenced by. His application of the paint, brushstrokes, and finish quality gives his paintings a unique ambience. It is the work itself—being true to whatever idea which he wishes to portray that is most important to him. As he noted,
“If my work is honest, it will have merit.”
