Mississippi Gulf Coast resident Valerie Winn is an author and artist. A former high school teacher of art and journalism, she has written for regional and national magazines as well as several newspapers, including
the Ocean Springs Record, The Mississippi Press,
and the Biloxi Sun Herald.
The recipient of a Mississippi Arts Commission Literary Arts Fellowship, Winn is the author of two novels, Forsaking Mimosa and The Dance Between, both shaped by her Southern upbringing and both published by Dogwood Press.
She also creates images primarily in acrylics and balances her writing with painting brightly colored
“Fanciful Flasks” and “Book/Bottles,” all of which are available at The Pink Rooster/Gallery Garbo.
