    My Inspiration

I have always been intrigued by collage. As a painter, I experimented with collage by incorporating the
medium into several of my paintings. When I became unable to stand at an easel due to breathing difficulties,
I moved into collage as a practicable
artistic expression. This simple shift in my work has
proven to be a beautiful blessing.
Collage has allowed me to take my love of interiors to another level. I create rooms I would like to live in. As an avid reader, I tend to include books in my dream rooms.
My soft spot for animals means there will often be a
dog and, of course, what room is really complete
without a beautiful painting?
I grew up in New Orleans ( with glorious summers at my grandparents’ farm in Ocean Springs). The dancing gals
are a tribute to the spirit of the crescent city. This work fueled a longing in my heart to give tribute to strong
black women. That was my inspiration behind the next pieces in this series honoring black women.
I am an artist. My physical limitations cannot take that away. Even though I am on oxygen full time due to a mysterious lung disease and I have a genetic tremor that makes small motor movement very challenging, I am still an artist. I have found a way with collage. I hope this collection inspires others who might be struggling with their own handicaps. I encourage you to to insist on being fully who you are created to be. God can provide a way.
God is good all the time!
