Greetings from C. Darby Ulery, founder of "Let's Go! Fairhope" events-related newsletter, calendar and website resource for Fairhope, Alabama.
This week's issue is dedicated the memory of Dr. Larry Wise. Dr. Wise helped countless families, human and animal alike, as our wise, gentle, caring, thoughtful veterinarian and friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family. He will be greatly missed.
Congratulations to Fairhope's own Suzanne Hudson who was recently awarded the 2025 Monroeville Literary Festival's "Truman Capote Prize for Distinguished Work in the Short Story or Literary Non-Fiction" category in Monroeville, Alabama. Suzanne was honored this past Saturday evening at Theatre 98 with her husband and author, Joe Formichella, authors Sonny Brewer and Tom Franklin, and singer-songwriter Grayson Capps, all on stage helping to weave the story of Ms. Hudson's impactful writing career.

"Did you know?*" The Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival began in 1953 as a walking tour of window dressings and craft demonstrations in downtown Fairhope designed to draw visitors from Mobile. Read more below.
Molly Thomas and the Rare Birds had to reschedule their upcoming concert originally planned for March 29. The Dr. Music Records' co-sponsored show will now take place Friday, March 28, same time, same place: Johnny Mac's @ 7 PM. Tickets are here.
March 28 is also when the Molly Ringwalds will take the stage as the Live at Five Concert Series kicks off at Halstead Amphitheater. Passes and Tickets are here.
***Let's Go! Fairhope is giving away a pair of tickets to both "Molly" concerts***
Reply to this email with your preferred choice of concert by 5 pm Friday, March 14 for a chance to win. Fine print: Odds for winning depend on the number of entires, number of Mollies, and any and all legal issues related to a contest where a real life cat will draw names out of the Let's Go! Fairhope hat. If you win, you must reply to the email notifying you of your opportunity within 48 hours, or another name will be drawn. Thanks for understanding.
Over 150 events have been uploaded for the week ahead. There isn't space to mention all of those here in the newsletter, nor in the black and white printable events list available at the bottom of this mail and on the website landing page. *Did you know?
According to the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival:
The history of the Fairhope Arts & Crafts dates back to February 22-28, 1953.
"The first festival was actually designed as a tour, planned to coordinate with the Mobile Jaycees’ Azalea Trail and Mobile Mardi Gras celebrations. The idea was that visitors attending these major events in Mobile would be attracted across the Bay, thus allowing visitors and local residents a chance to see some of the many talents of Eastern Shore residents."
"All exhibits were inside store windows and represented a wide variety of talents and interests. The tour schedule included entertainment and craft demonstrations and lasted for an entire week. Although some artists did sell items, the majority of the tour consisted of exhibits for viewing only."
