QuickARTS Grants
Program Description
QuickARTS: Community Arts Money in a Jiffy! supports a broad range of arts and cultural projects open to the public in Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben counties. Past funded projects include workshops, readings, festivals, concerts, plays, and more. Awards are given three times a year and amounts range from $50 to $500. Individuals, artists, groups, and organizations may apply.
QuickARTS: GO! helps artists from Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben counties take advantage of specific, unique opportunities that will benefit their work or career development. Past funded opportunities include support for residencies and exhibitions in Maine, Nebraska, New York, Pennsylvania, and Thailand. Awards are given three times a year and amounts range from $50 to $500. Individual artists working in all disciplines may apply.
Application Submission
Beginning with this year's grant cycle, all applications are now submitted online. To start the online application, please click here. The 2014 application deadlines are February 7, June 6, and October 10.
Application Support & Assistance
The Community Arts Manager is available to assist with project and opportunity development along with application preparation. All prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss an application before submitting it. Please contact Chris Walters, the Community Arts Manager, at grants@eARTS.org or at 607-962-1332 x 205.

Salvaged: Upcoming Programming
Presented by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes in the Houghton Gallery at 171 Cedar Arts Center, Corning, New York, Salvaged features five regional outsider artists: Kev Card, Tom "Holy Moses" Kerr, Amos Oakden, Martha Robertshaw, and Bob Smith.
The exhibit is open January 13 through March 21, 2014. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 9am-9pm, Friday 9am-8pm, and Saturday 9am-2pm.
"What is Outsider Art and Why Should We Care?" A panel discussion with artist and collector Tedd Arnold and documentarian David Seehausen Thursday, February 13, 7 to 9 pm
"Picking and Scrapping: The Art of Getting By" with curator Dr. Connie Sullivan-Blum Thursday, March 13, 7 to 9 pm
All programs are free and open to the public, and will be held at the Drake House, 171 Cedar Art Center, 155 Cedar Street, Corning, New York.

Vani S. P. Akula
Vani S. P. Akula has a solo exhibit at the Elmira Corning Airport as a member of Elmira Regional Art Society. The exhibition will be on display through February. Vani will also be instructing a two-day portrait workshop at the Franklin Street Gallery, February 1-2, 2014. Complete workshop details here.
Michael Czarnecki
Poet and memoirist Michael Czarnecki's memoir-writing method, Palm of the Hand Memoir, was recently highlighted in the Baraboo, WI newspaper, Baraboo News Republic. Czarnecki delivered a Palm of the Hand workshop in Baraboo in 2011. Participants have continued using his method to write in workshops hosted by the library he visited. Read the article here!
Yolanda Daliz
An exhibit of work by Yolanda Daliz, "Menagerie," is now on exhibition at the Lower Link Gallery of the Central Library of Rochester & Monroe County. The collection features over 100 mixed media items. Highlighting this exhibit will be her charming and colorful "Animal Series" and "Dog Series." The artist uses a combination of materials to create her work, mostly using bright primary colors on sculpture, wood, tapestries, paper and canvas. Yolanda was also recently featured in a PBS program "Latino Americans of NY & NJ." Learn more here!
Steve Duprey
Steve Duprey has recently been chosen as Featured Artist of the Month (for January) at the online art supply outlet Blick Art Materials, the largest, oldest provider of art supplies in the United States. The international site features new artists' work each month. Duprey's work was recently exhibited at the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery Clothesline Festival and can currently be seen at Monello Winery on Seneca Lake. When not painting, Steve teaches communications at Finger Lakes Community College and directs the Newark High School theatre program. He has also been a director with the Geneva Theatre Guild.
Gretchen Kai Halpert
Gretchen Kai Halpert is exhibiting at the Cumming Nature Center's Hurst Gallery, Naples, NY, with the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators Finger Lakes Chapter. "Marsh Madness: Wonders of Wetlands" is on exhibit now until May 4. Halpert's watercolor is featured in the exhibit's review in the Daily Messenger.
Ivy Stevens-Gupta
Ivy's latest exhibit titled "Color Matters" at Fine Line Bistro, 404 West State Street, Ithaca, NY 14850, from January 14-March 11, 2014, is a continued exploration of the psychology of art from her graduate studies. She has explored how color affects the brain and how science and digital technology have influenced how we perceive images. When designing her artwork, Ivy chooses a cornucopia of colors and textures in highly distinctive aesthetic patterns. The result of her mixed-media, multi-layer process is a luxurious composite that is full of energy and a captivating interplay of colors.
Wynn Yarrow
WETM-TV's Community Focus recently featured the artist-in-residence program in which Wynn takes part at The Rockwell Museum of Western Art. The whole show was about the residency. Wynn can be seen in the second half of the program discussing her experience with the program. It can be viewed online at the WETM website. Wynn Yarrow is introduced at the 12:12 mark.
