Construct your own La Catrina
Join us for one of two sessions,
This Thursday, October 24, 2013
Session One - 5:00 to 6:00 pm
Session Two - 6:15 to 7:15 pm
Participants will make their own figure of La Catrina to take home. La Catrina is a symbol that is associated with El Dia de los Muertos and the philosophical stance that Death comes for us all regardless of our class or station.
The workshop is open to the public, but space is limited. To attend, please RSVP to Connie by calling 607-962-1332 x206 or emailing folkARTS@eARTS.org. Suggested donation for workshop: $7 per person.

ARTS Council staff are on rotation throughout our service region during the month of September.
Artists of all disciplines, individuals interested in the arts, and community organizations, schools and businesses wishing to learn more about council programs, services, and grants are encouraged to make an appointment.

Gretchen Kai Halpert
Member artist Gretchen Kai Halpert will be leading an Italian tour called "Gardens and Villas of the Italian Lakes" in June 2014. Keeping a sketch journal on this trip is not mandatory, but fun. Registration is now open. For more information, click HERE. Gretchen is also exhibiting with the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators-Finger Lakes in a show entitled: Marsh Madness: Wonders of the Wetlands, on display through December 20, 2013.

Nancy Ridenour
The digital artistic photography of artist member Nancy Ridenour is being exhibited at The Corners Gallery in Ithaca. The exhibit, Flights and Flowers, will be on display from September 20 - October 31, 2013. Visit the gallery website here.
Kay Thomas
Artist member Kay Thomas has published a collection of short essays, AND ONE MORE THING I Brake for Squirrels and Other Thoughts I Have No Doubt About. You can find Kay's social commentary column,"...AND ONE MORE THING," in the Livingston County News. This collection is filled with her readers' favorite columns. Copies are available at lulu.com.
John Wahlig
Dr. John Wahlig's oil painting titled "The Bluff-Keuka Lake" has been accepted into the 2013 American Artists Professional League Grand National Exhibition and will be exhibited in their annual exhibition. In an ongoing effort to promote artists specializing in realistic art forms, the AALP has staged a Grand National Exhibition for over 83 years. Each year, hundreds of applicants from all 50 states submit their work for review by a selection committee consisting of professional artists in the fields of oil, watermedia, pastel and graphics and sculpture. The American Professional League was founded in 1928 and is located in the Salmagundi Club on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
Wynn Yarrow
Wynn Yarrow is the artist-in-resident at the Community Arts Center, Williamsport, PA for the 2013-14 program season. She painted the design for the year's program brochure, and her work will be exhibited in the 2200 seat theater from August 2013 through May 2014. This is the 20th gala season of the historic vaudeville theater's renovation and reopening. For more information, please click HERE.
