As we near the end of our November Arts & Culture month celebration, we hope you have enjoyed the featured arts organizations from across our county. Today we share with you ACPC's grant dollars at work for the benefit of the rural Truckee Tahoe Community Chorus! 500 guests enjoyed the 40 member Diablo Valley Philharmonic Orchestra, made up of students and community members, and the 35 member chorale performance, along with a performance by the Truckee Tahoe Youth Chorus. The youth chorus connects students with choral music and the arts in the Truckee and North Lake Tahoe schools, open to 3rd grade through high school.
Cultural and the economic benefits.
While participating in the chorale program, students learn a variety of musical genres, how to utilize proper vocal techniques, and how to read music, which culminates in the performance with the adult chorus. Engaging these rural students in arts, yields benefits in increased academic success and better attitudes about community service.
"Performers were present for three days for rehearsals, requiring meals and accommodations. Most ticket holders made a full day of their experience stimulating multiple areas of the local economy." wrote Development Director Bret Logan.
Impact of the Grants
Similar to many other performing arts groups, finding and affording a venue to rent for the performance was their biggest obstacle. The organization was very appreciative of the support from the Placer County which helped fund the venue rental costs.
