The Lansing Poetry Club announces the "Ritzenhein Emerging Poet Award Contest." The winner of this contest receives a poetry chapbook contract with "Finishing Line Press," along with mentorship and help completing and publicizing the chapbook, a $100 award, plus royalties and other rewards. Charlevoix Circle of Arts announces an open call for entry to all Michigan visual artists working in all mediums including 2-D, 3-D, functional art, fine craft, photography and installation for their "Re | Art Exhibition." They invite artists to comment visually to the many shifts taking place in our current experience. LowellArts West Michigan announces its 35th annual "West Michigan Art Competition" which highlights outstanding artwork by lower West Michigan artists who reside in a 25-county region. IU Kokomo Downtown Gallery announces "Anxiety in a Time of Pandemic." Anxiety is a major aspect within society, only more prevalent since the beginning of COVID-19 and other current global events, such as the election and Black Lives Matter. There needs to be more societal awareness brought to the struggles that humans face with anxiety, especially during a time of limited social interaction, combined with the risk of serious illness. Artists are capable of bridging the gap of visually portraying the sometimes-overwhelming intangible feelings anxiety possesses. CICA Museum invites experimental filmmakers and artists worldwide to participate in the "CICA Experimental Film and Video Exhibition 2021." They will accept single-channel experimental films, video art and animations. CICA will provide projectors and DVD/DIVX players for the show. Inspire Gallery invites artists to submit their work for consideration to a virtual exhibition curated by artist and educator Chloe Alexander. This online platform is a curatorial collaboration between Rebecca Potts of Teaching Artist Podcast and Maria Coit of Curated for Kids. The online exhibit aims to be an internationally accessible 24/7, curated, professional, virtual presentation of exciting contemporary work from around the world. MetLife, the New York Jets and the New York Giants are pulling together to install a pair of two-story-high murals at MetLife Stadium, and they are calling on the public to design them! Inspired by the profound impact the workforce of plumbers, mechanics, warehouse workers, cooks, healthcare administrators, small business owners and more have had on our communities and on our daily lives, they want to install murals that will commemorate these men and women for years to come. Submitted designs will go before a jury and two will be chosen. A professional artist will take the winning vision and create a pair of two-story murals to be installed at MetLife Stadium.
