Individual Artist Fellowship Application Open

The eGrant Fellowship Application for FY16 is now available. It can be accessed on the Division's website. Scroll down to the section for Individual Artists to access the guidelines, a work sample preparation guide, and the link to the application. This year's Masters categories are Literary Arts and Media Arts. The deadline for applications is August 3, 2015 by 4:30 p.m. Contact Roxanne Stanulis with any questions at roxanne.stanulis@state.de.us or 302-736-7435.

New this year:

  • All work samples must have been created within the last three years.
  • The Visual Images Registry Form has been removed from the application for visual artists and replaced with a question that asks if the artist wants to be considered for an exhibition in the Mezzanine Gallery.
  • A three-year waiting period was instituted for FY 2013, 2014 and 2015 fellows before they can reapply in the Emerging or Established categories.

Please be sure to read the guidelines completely and note the requirements for file uploads.

On the Mezzanine

The Delaware Division of the Arts Mezzanine Gallery is pleased to present Midway, an exhibition of paper-based and pop-up sculpture by Robert Kelly (Wilmington). Midway alludes to the space between science and art in which he works as well as the arcade influences from a carnival midway. Kelly is inspired by movement and incorporates elements of amusement, surprise, and entertainment into his work. The exhibition will be on view from July 2-31, with an opening reception on July 10, 5-8 p.m.

Work by figurative sculptor Harold Kalmus is currently on display in the Mezzanine Gallery through June 19 with a meet-the-artist reception on June 5, 5-8 p.m.

The Mezzanine Gallery, open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., is located in the Carvel State Office Building, 820 N. French Street, Wilmington. The Gallery will be closed on July 3 due to the holiday.

NEA 50th Anniversary - Tell Your Story!

This year, 2015, is the 50th anniversary of the signing of the National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities Act of 1965, which created the National Endowment for the Arts. To better recount the story of the NEA and the arts in America, the NEA wants to share your story of how the arts have influenced your life. They invite you to share:

  • how the arts are part of your day,
  • how the arts have inspired you to do something unique, or
  • how they have made a difference among you and your family, as well as in the communities and neighborhoods in which you live.

If there is a specific NEA grant that has had an impact on you and your community, let them know. In addition to, or instead of, a narrative, you can include one to three photos and/or one video or audio of no more than five minutes.

Starting September 29, 2015, the NEA will begin posting these stories on their website and promoting them across social media. Join the celebration by telling your story of how the arts or the NEA have influenced your life.
