Thanksgiving Feast Coming up on Nov. 26th!

As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving together on Wednesday, November 26th, we invite you to donate turkeys. When turkeys are donated, then we are able to provide more of those side dishes that make a meal, a feast. We are hoping to get 22-24 turkeys that weigh 16-20 lbs. (Pro tip: A companion spotted an ad from Ingles offering frozen turkeys for 37 cents/pound with a $35 purchase of groceries! Limit 2 turkeys.)

Frozen turkeys can be dropped off at the church Mon-Thurs from 9am - 2pm by Nov. 20th. If you would like to make a monetary donation for turkeys, you can do so here:

Haywood Street Highlights

Big thanks to this team from Warren Wilson who came for a tour and stayed to help roll utensils for Wednesday's meal. Gathering around the table created the opportunity to ask more questions about Haywood St. and what resilience looks like in different communities.

Companions continued the effort of rolling silverware for Wednesday's meal.

Arts Education at Haywood St.

This fall, Haywood Street has had the pleasure of hosting seven different classes from Asheville High School for field trips to visit the Fresco. Principal artist Christopher Holt is a TAPAS (Teaching Artists Presenting in Asheville Schools) artist through the Asheville City Schools Foundation. ACS teachers can apply for a grant to fund the field trip to Haywood Street through ACSF.

The energy and enthusiasm the students bring to campus has been wonderful, and their feedback has been great. They love the opportunity to learn from Christopher, and to hear from Fresco models about their experience with the artwork and Haywood St. If you are an educator and would like more information about field trips, contact April.

Images shown: Christopher brings a variety of art materials to illustrate the process. Wayne offers his perspective on working at Haywood St. and being a model for the Fresco. Christopher fields a variety of questions from the students.

A witness to include the most excluded, Haywood Street not only welcomes every child of God–especially beloved siblings of every mental illness and physical disability, addiction and diagnosis, living condition and employment status, gender identity and sexual orientation, class, color, and creed–but we celebrate your presence, certain that the kingdom of God is coming closer because you are here.
