Celtic Christmas with Barry Cloyd

December 6 at 7:30 PM

Barry Cloyd’s Celtic Christmas performance is a rich, immersive experience that blends music, storytelling, and history into a festive celebration of Celtic heritage. In past performances like A Celtic Winter Solstice, he presents 1,000-year-old songs and stories, celebrating the longest night of the year with themes of nature, mythology, and community. Barry is a Midwestern based, touring singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, performing over 200 shows per year, who has spent a lifetime creating a performance style that weaves the genres of Blues, Folk, Celtic, Original and Roots music into a unique blend all his own. He’s not just a musician, he’s also a storyteller, historian, and theatrical performer who’s been creating and performing for decades. He also brings a rich blend of music, storytelling, and history to youth programming through what he calls “edu-tainment”—educational entertainment that’s both engaging and meaningful. It’s not just a concert—it’s a cultural experience that feels like stepping into a timeless winter gathering.

She Speaks, She Sings, She Soars

YWCA Linda Cohen Trailblazer Series

December 9 at 11:30 AM

At our upcoming Lunch and Learn, we’ll take a heartfelt journey through the lives of the real women who shaped Lafayette’s early days; not the famous figures in history books, but the everyday heroes whose stories are rarely told. Claire Eagle will open by sharing powerful stories of unsung women such as cooks, teachers, and caregivers whose quiet strength laid the foundation of our community. Audrey Johnson will follow with moving song settings of one such woman's poetry, bringing her spirit to life through music. Melissa Fraterrigo will then bridge past and present, reflecting on how these early experiences echo in the lives of girls today and exploring what “girlhood” looks like in a modern Lafayette. It promises to be a powerful tribute to the women who came before and an inspiring look at the generations rising now.

Claire Eagle is the executive director of the Tippecanoe County Historical Association. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in history from the University of North Alabama and a master’s degree in historical administration from Eastern Illinois University. While not a native Hoosier, Eagle has spent the last eight years calling Indiana home.

Audrey Johnson is a mezzo-soprano with degrees from Simpson College and the University of Houston, known for roles such as Cherubino, Hänsel, and Meg. She founded Of Thee I Sing: American Heritage Through Song, a solo performance company with the mission of bringing American history to life through music. Her interactive programs have reached over 10,000 people in 10 states since 2018 and are supported by Caterpillar Inc., The Arts Federation, Arts MidWest, Humanities Iowa, the Indiana Arts Commission, and the NEA.

Melissa Fraterrigo’s memoir, The Perils of Girlhood was published by the University of Nebraska Press in Fall 2025. She is also the author of the novel Glory Days (University of Nebraska Press), and the story collection The Longest Pregnancy (Livingston Press). She teaches creative writing at Purdue University, in the Butler University MFA in Creative Writing program, and is the founder of the Lafayette Writers’ Studio in Lafayette, Indiana. Celtic Angels Christmas

December 9 at 7:30 PM

Celtic Angels Christmas is a joyous celebration from start to finish, encompassing vocal and instrumental Holiday and Irish favorites. Paired with show stopping world class champion Irish dancing and a fully live band, Celtic Angels Christmas is sure to awe and entertain.

These dynamic divas enthrall and delight with their jaw dropping performances and spine tingling harmonies. Musical arranger Peter Sheridan (Cavan, Celtic Thunder) ingeniously marries the old and new worlds with traditional and contemporary Irish and Holiday tunes. Brought to life by the immensely talented Trinity Ensemble. Hands will be clapping, and toes will be tapping.

Under the watchful eye of Irish step dance director, Sarah Costello (Belfast, ADCRG), the Celtic Knight Dancers seem to defy gravity as they command the stage with their powerful, percussive presence. Written, directed and choreographed by Dublin native, Louise Barry (Dublin, The Diddley Idols / National Theatre) this wonderfully nostalgic journey will having you dashing through the snow to the local snugs of Ireland, where a step is expected, sing-alongs are mandatory and good craic is had by all.
