Coming up in our Gallery for June
Allied Arts of Whatcom County’s 2018 Gallery Series is excited to introduce the Native Arts Collective , featuring the unique and captivating works of Native artists from throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The exhibition will consist of various media including intricate beadwork, jewelry, wood carving, metalwork, drums, blankets, glass, and more.

We will also have a community art project led by Christian Smith to celebrate our community’s cultures. Decorate a flag to be exhibited at the Whatcom Cultural Arts Festival June 22 & 23.

Native Arts Collective provides a platform to showcase the vibrancy, skill, and creativity of new and upcoming Native artists, and will be displayed from June 1st until June 30th, 2018. The Allied Arts Gallery is dedicated to providing a professional space for local artists of every background and experience level to present and sell their work, supporting the arts and artists of Bellingham’s community. Call to Artists: Bellingham SeaFeast
Deadline: June 7, 2018
Event Date: September 22, 2018

Bellingham SeaFeast showcases and celebrates our rich marine heritage, thriving working waterfront, commercial fishing and seafood industries, and the culinary bounty of our corner of the Pacific Northwest. People of all ages and ethnicities are invited to come participate in this one-day event that offers various waterfront activities celebrating Bellingham’s marine heritage. Guests will also have the opportunity to learn about the harvest seasons of Salish Sea seafood to create local, healthy, and delicious family menus.

Allied Arts of Whatcom County is coordinating the art booth and activities component of this event with an emphasis on depicting our thriving marine heritage and lively Salish Sea.
Registration is Open for the Summer Art Camps at BAAY and WCC with Teaching Artist Rachel Simpson!
There’s a variety of Summer Art Camps for kids of all ages, such as Drawing & Painting, Upcycled Art & Sculpture, Preschool & Kinders Art, and there’s options for several age groups with BAAY (Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth - Summer Art Camps) and a Drawing class at WCC (Whatcom Community College – Kids College)! Grants for Artist Projects is now open!
The deadline to apply for GAP is June 25 and you can find application guidelines here. To support artists who are new to applying for grants or generally have questions about the process, Artist Trust will be holding Office Hours, webinars, and workshops over the next few months, more information about these events is available on the application page. We have also compiled an updated reference guide that breaks down different approaches to the various components of the GAP application in hopes of making applying as straightforward as possible.

Sundail Mural Fundraiser Joins June Art Walk
Bellingham Sundial Mural Project invites the community to a gallery party during June Art Walk to raise funds for the slated sundial mural. Artwork by mural artist Gretchen Leggitt, sundial installations by Sasch Stephens, and project renderings will be on display. Donations are greatly appreciated and will be considered for raffle prizes. The group hopes to raise enough funds to begin painting in late June. Join us at HappyChap Creative Co. at 1215 Cornwall Ave. on June 1, 6-10 p.m.
