A Resource for Artsy Happenings in Whatcom County

Student-made robots and local artist's work on display in May. Opening Reception during Children's Art Walk, May 6th.

Robots with keys for eyes and forks for hands will be on display at Make.Shift during the annual Children's Art Walk. This year students and local artists were challenged to make innovative art pieces with a robotic theme.

Local artists were called to create art pieces inspired by robots made by ArtPeace students, grades 3-7. Artists were given a photo and information on a student's robot and asked to to create a two or three-dimensional piece based on the individual student's work.

Over 20 student-made robots were submitted to be a part of the gallery. The robots range from drawings to small sculptures made from recycled materials. Each student wrote a short story to go with their robot and the adventures they had together, like talking to R2D2 about the dark side of the moon.

In partnership with Play Lab, Make.Shift will also host crafts and interactive activities for families during Art Walk on May 6. The crafts and activities will be robot themed to coordinate with the art show in the gallery.
