Its the most wonderful time of the year!
Oh what fun! Allied Arts of Whatcom County invites you to come celebrate the season with the 38 th Annual Holiday Festival of the Arts is a five week long festival featuring the work of over 100 local artisans and craftspeople. The affordable, locally handmade products range from jewelry, paintings, wearable art, specialty foods, and art from found materials. 

October's Gallery Exhibit
Allied Arts of Whatcom County’s 2017 Gallery Series wraps up their year with Who’s There? An exciting show that features figurative work by painters Frank Frazee and Shawna Morris as well as stone sculptures by Ruth Mueseler.

Our November exhibit will also feature small works in our cases by Bellingham Metal Arts Guild members.

Call for Volunteers

The Allied Arts Gallery needs volunteers to help out on the First Friday Art Walks. The Art Walk shifts are still available for October 6, November 3, and December 1. Click here www.volunteersignup.org/F99BP to sign up.

Coded Threads: Sustainable Textiles & Technology
Ragfinery + Social Fabric

Ragfinery is a nonprofit training business and textile reuse center in Bellingham. They collect unwanted garments and textiles and determine creative reuse value to keep them out of landfills. Manager Shan Sparling will talk about Ragfinery and the important role that textile recycling/reuse can play in the community and for the world.
 
Social Fabric is a boutique, textile gallery and learning facility where all kinds of classes involving fashion design, textile arts processes, and creative projects are taught. It's also a place where people of the "textile-mind" can meet, learn, and celebrate the textile art form. Renee Sherrer, owner of Social Fabric, Fashion Designer and Textile artist, will talk about taking your art form (in her case, textiles) and finding a way to make a living.

Local artist book release
Please join local artist and writer Christen Mattix as she reads from her new memoir, Skein: The Heartbreaks and Triumphs of a Long Distance Knitter.

Artist Christen Mattix knit a halfmile line from an abandoned bench to Bellingham Bay, opening up a world of interaction with her quirky Fairhaven neighbors. Told with honesty and humor, Skein is an poetic glimpse into Christen's psyche and a sparkling account of a real neighborhood.
VFX Foam is looking for artists
VFX Foam is a 3D sculpting and theming studio dedicated to delivering amazing experiences. Our slogan is 'imagination unleashed' and we work with businesses of all sizes to develop amazing props, signage, architecture and themed environments. From restaurants to large resorts to zoos, our projects span the US. 

We're looking to hire sub-contractors for the following positions as we ramp up production:
- detail painters
- air brush artists
- sculptors
- concept artists

Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) is now seeking bands and solo artists for the 17th Annual Sound Off!, the Northwest’s Premier 21 & Under Battle of the Bands.
 
The Sound Off! 2018 concerts will take place in February and March at Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle. Prizes include festival performances, radio airplay, gear, and music industry consultations. Musicians from across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia, are encouraged to apply. All genres of original music are accepted, all participants must be age 21 or under.
 
Many amazing artists have participated in Sound Off! over its 16 year history including The Lonely Forest, Sol, Naked Giants, Cosmos, Emma Lee Toyoda, Kithkin, Dave B, Tomten, Manatee Commune, The Globes, Dyme Def, Vox Mod, The Fame Riot, Otieno Terry, Special Explosion, Brothers from Another, as well as members of Grand Hallway, Beat Connection, Oberhofer, La Luz, Cumulus, Kairos, Hey Marseilles + many more.

Gardenview Montessori will host the 11th Annual Holiday Bazaar, taking place at Hillcrest Chapel at 1400 Larrabee Avenue, Bellingham, Washington on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 9:00am to 3:00pm, and featuring local artist and crafts vendors, a silent auction, bake sale and activities for children. We will have food from Pizzazza between 11:00am and 2:00pm.

Free admission. Free ticket at the door for each child to use for a kid’s craft, kid’s game or kid’s raffle entry.

Gardenview Montessori is located in the Birchwood neighborhood and provides Montessori education for children ages 18 months to 3 years. We are a non-profit organization and this fundraiser supports our school. Our children are our future and it's Gardenview Montessori's mission to evoke a child's love of learning and to serve the needs of the whole child.   • Members can sign up for a listing on our Artist Directory
  • Submit your event to our Event Calendar. Listings from this calendar are also used for our monthly Art Talk segment on local radio station KMRE 102.3FM.
  • Email information about your event to newsletter wizard, Katy Tolles, at katy@alliedarts.org. Materials must be received by the 15th of the month to be included in the following month's newsletter.
