Thank you to the numerous artists, creatives, businesses, institutions, organizations, town government, and residents for your continued support of arts and culture in Franklin's Cultural District and beyond.

Franklin's Cultural District (map) celebrates arts and culture throughout the year in many ways for all interests:

  • Numerous Farmers Market Fridays and Concerts on the Common;
  • Festivals, including July 4th Festival, Celebrate with Pride Festival, Franklin Cultural Festival, Strawberry Stroll, and Harvest Fest;
  • Theater, music, and dance performances;
  • Numerous weekly music performances at local businesses;
  • Walking opportunities in two Historic Districts and throughout the Cultural District;
  • Lectures, music, exhibits, presentations, education, and more at the Franklin Historic Museum, Franklin Public Library, and institutions of learning;
  • Community gatherings on the Town Common;
  • Formal and informal learning opportunities in the visual and performing arts from preschool through adult learning; and,
  • The Franklin Art Association Art Gallery located in Escape into Fiction Bookstore.



The mission of the Franklin Cultural District Committee is to support, promote, and advance arts and culture in the Cultural District and Beyond. The FCD Committee meets monthly and the next meeting is scheduled for January 12 at 7:00 pm via Zoom. The agenda and Zoom link will be posted on the Town website. The FCDC meetings are public meetings.

Thank you to the Massachusetts Cultural Council and to the Franklin Cultural Council! The Franklin Cultural District is honored to receive a Cultural District Investment Grant from the MCC and a Local Cultural Council Grant from the FCC. These funds will be used to further advance, support, and promote arts and culture in the Franklin Cultural District.

A girls indoor soccer team warms up. From the safety of their suburban stretch circle, the team navigates big questions and wages tiny battles with all the vim and vigor of a pack of adolescent warriors. A portrait of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for nine American girls who just want to score some goals.

Second Sunday Speakers Series

Sunday, January 8, 1:00 pm, Second Sunday Speakers Series featuring Joe Landry. Joe will focus on the history of trains that rolled through Franklin with an additional concentration on the circa 1932 Franklin Train Station currently on display at the Museum. The HO Scale Model was masterfully built by Scott Martin. The Museum is collecting paper towels for the Franklin Food Pantry. Democracy Talks: Immigrants' Rights

On September 14, 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis (FL) routed approximately 50 asylum seekers from San Antonio, TX, to Martha’s Vineyard, MA. Professor Sarah Sherman-Stokes, associate director of the Immigrants’ Rights & Human Trafficking Clinic at Boston University School of Law, will share the legal implications of DeSantis’s actions and current issues in asylum law and policy.

Permeated with the idea that we turn to art in times of immense difficulty, this 2013 black comedy by Anne Washburn tells the story of a group of survivors shortly after a global catastrophe. As a way of making sense in a world that no longer makes sense, they recreate their vanished world through storytelling (some of it featuring Bart Simpson) and turn pop culture of one era into the mythology of another. The Circle of Friends Coffeehouse

  • April 1 -  SheGrooves - Boston's premiere female contemporary band featuring Franklin’s own Kaye Kelly.

Grant opportunities continue to be available through the Mass Cultural Council. Check out the Cultural Facilities Fund (CFF). 

CFF Provides Capital Grants, Feasibility & Technical Assistance Grants and Systems Replacement Grants to nonprofit cultural organizations, in recognition of their profound economic impact on communities across Massachusetts.
