Artsy Box Project Update

Project Submissions Ending

The Franklin Cultural District is pleased to share that we still have a few hours left to accept submissions as the time closes promptly at 3 pm today, Wednesday, February 15.. We want to thank the Mass Cultural Council and the Town of Franklin for their generosity and support. We would also like to thank our Franklin artists and neighboring communities who have participated in this new public art initiative. Submissions will be reviewed in the coming weeks. Please look out for an update in our newsletter.

An Evening Salon Celebrating Visionary Activist Bayard Rustin

Dean College presents an evening salon on the life and work of visionary activist Bayard Rustin, Wednesday, February 15, 6:00 pm, featuring special guests Walter Naegle, who was Rustin’s life partner, and Bennett Singer, the filmmaker who co-directed the film “Brother Outsider” about Rustin.

Hosted by the Dean College Social Responsibility, Equity and Antiracism Work Team, this event provides an opportunity to celebrate, reflect and engage in critical discussions as we collectively move toward creating the pluralist ideal in the places where we live, work and socialize. The event is free and open to the public, and will take place in the Marvin Chapel inside Dean Hall on the Dean College campus. Select Dean for additional information.

Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play, Thursday, February 23 to February 26, Dean College School of the Arts.

Permeated with the idea that we turn to art in times of immense difficulty, this 2013 black comedy by Anne Washburn tells the story of a group of survivors shortly after a global catastrophe. As a way of making sense in a world that no longer makes sense, they recreate their vanished world through storytelling (some of it featuring Bart Simpson) and turn pop culture of one era into the mythology of another. Lifelong Music Academy

Summer Music 2023!

The Lifelong Music Academy's Summer Music Program.Registration is now open. For two weeks, July 24 - August 4, 2023, students entering grades 3-9 can choose from classes in Band. Glee, or Strings. The program runs Monday thru Friday from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm at Franklin High School. In addition to their main ensemble, students participate in a daily Exploratory class, recreational time, plus there are multiple Spirit Days throughout the two weeks and a concert on the last day.
