Cultural Wednesdays

Cultural Wednesdays is a partnership with Franklin Matters/Franklin.news. Labor Day weekend is here and arts and culture continue to engage the greater Franklin community.


      This Friday, September 2:

  • Dom DeBaggis, solo acoustic guitarist, performs between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm on the Town Common. His performance is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Franklin Cultural Council.
  • The Franklin Public Library sponsors Farmers Market Fun from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm on the Town Common.

  • International Overdose Awareness Day, Candlelight Vigil, Wednesday, August 31, 6:30pm on the Town Common.
  • Franklin Public Library
  • September 1 - 30 ... Book Bingo Challenge! for Kids & Families. Collect your BINGO board at the Children's Room Desk and play along all month. 118 Main St.
  • Escape into Fiction - Educator's Night
  • Thursday, September 1, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Escape into Fiction welcomes all teachers and school staff to shop and save 20% on purchases during this time. 12 Main Street.
  • La Cantina Winery - Weekend at the Winery
  • Ken Barney, Live Music, Thursday, September 1, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, 357 Union St.
  • Laura May Duo, Live Music, Friday, September 2, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, 357 Union St.
  • The Cowpies, Live Music, Saturday, September 3, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, 357 Union St.
  • 67 Degrees Brewing hosts Gay Perkoski, solo acoustic guitarist, on Friday, September 2, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm., 158 Grove Street
  • Dean College welcomes new and returning students to campus. Most of the students will be moving in on September 5 and 6. Welcome to Franklin!
  • Franklin Art Association will be meeting on Wednesday, September 7 at 6:30 pm at the Senior Center on Daniel McCahill St. The program will feature a painting demonstration by abstract painter Deborah Drummond who will be sharing her techniques and inspiration.  The program is free and open to the public.

Looking Ahead ...

See You on Cultural Lane


The Franklin Cultural District Committee will have a booth on Cultural Lane at the Cultural FestivalSaturday, September 10, 12 noon to 6:00 pm on the Town Common. The booth will include live painting by artist Amy Adams, and quilting demonstration by fiber artist, Jennifer Vacca. Information about the Cultural District and its partners will be available.

Open House


Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) - Open House, September 10, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Meet faculty and staff, and learn more about FSPA programs in music, dance, and drama. 12 Main St.

Mexican Independence Day Fiesta


La Cantina Winery - 2nd Annual Mexican Independence Day Fiesta, Friday, September 16, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Live music with Andres & Joe Tzintli and Mariachi Vargas Boston. Tacos from Los 3 Garcia. Shop Handmade Mexican Artisan from Tonatiuh Fashion. Ticket information here.

Book Club at Escape into Fiction

Don't forget. Massachusetts Cultural Council has two grants designed to help arts and culture organizations, and arts and culture creatives and gig workers in their recovery from the COVID 19 pandemic.
