Dean College Theater

Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play, Thursday, February 23 to February 26, Dean College School of the Arts.

Permeated with the idea that we turn to art in times of immense difficulty, this 2013 black comedy by Anne Washburn tells the story of a group of survivors shortly after a global catastrophe. As a way of making sense in a world that no longer makes sense, they recreate their vanished world through storytelling (some of it featuring Bart Simpson) and turn pop culture of one era into the mythology of another.   • Creative Writing Workshop Informational Meeting, Thursday, February 23 and Thursday, March 2, 6:00 pm. Creative Writing Workshop! Let us help hone your skills or teach you something new! Come to the Informational meetings and learn about the new workshops being held! All ages welcome to the meeting. From there we will organize age groups for Workshop Sessions!
  • HeartStopper Book Club (Middle-High School), Thursday, February 23, 6:00 pm, Book 2. This is geared for all middle school and High school students that are, or are allies, LGBTQ+. Bring your friends and come talk about your favorite series and hear about other books coming out!
  • Poetry for the People, Tuesday, February 28, 6:00 pm. Come in to listen, or participate in Franklin's Bookstore Poetry group. A new monthly gathering of Poetry lovers! Lifelong Learning Institute

The Knitter's Circle. A late March 6-week class. If you're looking for an excellent way to learn new knitting stitches, or if you prefer smaller knitting projects during the warmer months, this knitting stitch sampler afghan is for you! Join fellow knitters as you each make a series of 12-inch squares that you will then attach to create your own gorgeous & unique stitch sampler blanket.This class is recommended for Advanced Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced Knitters.  Select Lifelong Community Learning for more information and to register. 218 Oak Street.

Franklin Federated Church

Training Active Bystander event, Registration deadline March 1 and event is Sunday, March 5, 1:00 to 3:30 pm, $15.00, online class. When a remark that is racist or otherwise threatening is made or someone threatens violence, it's good to know how to intervene without making the situation worse. TAB teaches how bystanders can interrupt harmful situations and generate positive responses. This 2.5 hour workshop (with a break) helps participants know, when they are bystanders, how to analyze situations and evaluate consequences.

   The workshop is limited to 25 people. If the fee of $15 is an obstacle, please speak to Pastor Doreen as there are subsidies available upon request. Registrants will receive the Zoom link between March 1 and 4. If the workshop is full and you can't register, please email Pastor Doreen [email protected] who will start a wait list in case people drop out. Interfaith Teen Climate group meeting Sunday, March 5 at 7:00 pm at St. John's Episcopal Church. The Interfaith climate group from Franklin travelled to Boston for a march and rally on February 7.

National Art Honor Society

FCD Committee

Franklin's Cultural District Committee (FCDC) engages, promotes, celebrates, and collaborates with Franklin's artists and creatives, as well as organizations, institutions, and businesses. The Committee meets the second Thursday of the month, at 7 PM.
