Franklin PorchFest ... June 1, 12:00pm to 6:00pm the momentum is building and we are thrilled with the initial response!

To accommodate so many requests, we are extending our registration through April 30th for both porch hosts and performers. If you are interested in participating you still have time to sign up. The opening days of spring are here! Along with the warmer weather comes an abundance of arts and culture opportunities.

 

This week we can immerse ourselves in Women’s History Month through lectures by Femita Ananbeku (March 20) and Kenyatta Berry (March 27) on the Dean Campus. Dom DeBaggis performs at 3 Restaurant and Violinist Victor Romanul and pianist Lisa Romanul perform for LiveARTS at FUSF. Ballet Franklin presents Cinderella at THE BLACK BOX. The Historical Museum's Saturday Silent Movie is “The Cabinet of Dr Caligari”. The Easter Bunny will be at Fairmount Fruit Farm with multiple activities, a ticketed event. Escape into Fiction bookstore hosts the March Book Club and later, welcomes local author, Jessica Lepe (March 23). The Historical Museum offers the Palmer Method and welcomes the Easter Bunny to their front porch. The Master Plan Committee invites the Community to its Open House (March 23). Additionally, there are activities at the Senior Center and Public Library. Information about these activities is included in the newsletter.

Wednesday, March 20, 5:30pm, Femita Ayanbeku, will be giving a lecture in honor of Women's History Month at Dean College in the Trophy Room. Femita is a two-time USA Paralympic sprinter, motivational speaker, spokesperson for Fitbitand Ossur, and has numerous other achievements to her name. Femita graduated from Brockton High School and until recently, lived in Boston. She has overcome tremendous obstacles to achieve her goal of competing in the Paralympics and she is looking forward to sharing her story with us! FREE. Open to the public.

Thursday, March 21, at 6:30pm, Bringing the Stars Indoors, Franklin Public Library. Explore the stars in comfort without the light pollution and travel! This presentation will explore Stellarium; an open source project showing a realistic sky in 3 dimensions. We’ll be distributing glasses for the solar eclipse at this event! Leverone, a videographer and graphics artist from Franklin, who has directed promotional and fundraising videos, and is currently a producer at Franklin TV. Wednesday, March 27, 5:30pm Kenyatta Berry, has agreed to share her journey and insight with Dean College and the Franklin community as part of Women's History Month. The presentation takes place at Dean College in the Trophy Room, Memorial Hall. Kenyatta Berry has co-hosted 2 television shows on PBS, hosted podcasts (https://firesidechat.com/kenyattaberry) and (https://www.audible.com/.../Conversations-with.../B08K57MK4J), authored a book and contributed to numerous research projects, including the 1619 project. Kenyatta has a professional background in the law and technology but became a full-time genealogist more than a decade ago after she had been researching genealogy for years while holding down a full-time job in another field.

As an entrepreneur, genealogist, attorney, author, podcaster, television host, lawyer and tech expert, Kenyatta has a broad scope of expertise to share. FREE. All Welcome.
