ISAS ARTS FESTIVAL
Anabelle Adams ’25, Katherine Alford ’25, Cami Rose Curran ’26, Kai Jones ’25, Phoebe Kleehammer ’25, and Fiona May ’25 traveled with Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Schroth to All Saints Episcopal School in Fort Worth, Texas, to represent Sacred Heart at the 2023 ISAS Arts Festival. The festival brings over 3,000 student artists from independent schools together each year to showcase their work, take classes, and receive feedback from experts. The festival was on hiatus for three years due to Covid-19, so it was very exciting for our group to be back together with the arts community.

PALETTE ART SHOW 2023
Art from our prekindergarten through fourth grade students was on display at the annual art show, Palette! Throughout the year students studied and were inspired by artists such as Van Gogh, Bataclan, Galler, Pindell, Matisse, Harrison, John’s, Hockney, Picasso, Klee, Román, Silberzweig, Eames and MORE! Students presented their art to students and parents. To celebrate, each homeroom in first through fourth grade enjoyed a special art class with our Artist-in-Residence, Chuck Galey, illustrator of Jazz Cats. Mr. Galey talked about the process of creating a picture book, how it is ok to make mistakes, and the importance of observation as well as revision. On Thursday morning, prekindergarten through fourth grade students enjoyed a virtual visit with artist Bren Bataclan, creator of the Smile Project. It was an inspiring week! Click here to see photos.

ART FOR GOAL THREE: SERVICE
The Middle School painted four rain barrels for Green Light New Orleans. Eliza Mae Bendich '30, Lane Connell '30, Ellen Guste '30, and Cindy Smith '27 each created a unique design for a barrel. Ms. Pando's art students painted the beautiful designs onto each rain barrel. Green Light New Orleans will distribute our barrels to lucky homeowners in our area to collect rainwater and reduce street flooding.

DIGITAL MEDIA STUDENTS VISIT WWL-TV STUDIO
|
|
Digital Media students had a great visit to the WWL-TV studio in May. They watched news anchor Eric Paulsen mark 46 years as a news anchor. In addition, Chef Kevin Belton helped them to celebrate national carrot day with carrot cookie treats! Students had a great tour from (former) news director Keith Esparros and were able to pitch news stories in an editorial meeting. They also spoke to news anchor Leslie Spoon and meteorologist Payton Malone about what it’s like to work in broadcast journalism and their early morning hours! They did a great job representing ASH.
