Korean Culture: Second Moon

Second Moon: Moonlight flows

Thursday, June 8th, 2023, 7:30 pm

David Rubenstein Atrium

(61 West 62nd Street, New York, NY 10023)

Free Admission: First-come, First-served

co-presented by the KCCNY and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts

Second Moon is a dynamic 7-member band that blends Korean Pansori, a style of musical storytelling, with Irish music by incorporating instruments like Irish whistle, bodhran, and mandolin. The band gained recognition in 2006 when they were selected for “Rookie of the Year” and “Record of the Year” at the Korean Music Awards, and their music was featured in hit K-dramas such as ‘Princess Hours’ and ‘Goong S.’

Second Moon first came to prominence as one of South Korea's best known folk pop bands through their catchy and remarkably popular Korean television soundtracks, including the scores for The Legend of the Blue Sea and Love in the Moonlight. The group has expanded into a ensemble whose performances draw inspiration from ethnic folk songs sourced from around the world.

This event is presented to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the ROK-U.S. Alliance.
