Description:
Play therapy has been a well-kept secret for many years. Today, parents, pediatricians, and mental health providers are very aware and informed about this powerful mental health modality for children ages 3 through 12 and even adults. There is, however, more work to be done. This training will briefly review the nuts and bolts of play therapy, both directive and non-directive, to include reasons for misconceptions and how to articulate the therapeutic powers of play for clearer understanding.
Objectives:
- Define play therapy and its value
- Describe the therapeutic powers of play
- Articulate how play therapy works to bring about healing
