Dear Asbury Friends,
On Wednesday, I watched in horror at the violence and complete disrespect for the peaceful transition of power at our nation's Capitol.  And then last night, I watched with pride as our nation's leaders came together to ensure the American people that anarchy and lawlessness did not rule the day.
While I am grateful for this response from our political leaders, today I am feeling spiritually and emotionally bruised, battered and broken.  I'm taking care of myself by limiting the amount of television news I am watching, talking to friends and family, and praying for God's peace - both for myself, for you and for our country.  Please make certain you watch the service this week online, as I know that Lee and I will both be talking about turning to God and coming together in these challenging times.
Joining together in difficult times is one of the ways we "practice what we preach..."
