We had a great trip this June to Serendipity Farm & Vine in Stilwell, Kansas! Pastor Jeff told us some stories from the Bible involving wine and God's abundance, and we all enjoyed a tasting and learning about how wine is grown at the vineyard.

| | BIG Election in Kansas on August 4! You In?!? | |
This year's Aug. 4 KS primary election is a BIG one! In addition to primary races, Kansans will vote on a constitutional amendment. This is a non-partisan ballot measure, so both party affiliated and unaffiliated voters can vote. This amendment proposes changes to the judicial selection process for the KS Supreme Court.

What a month! 30 Asbury friends had a wonderful time exploring Argentinian culture through an engaging presentation, charming music, delicious food, and a touching movie, all while Kansas City welcomed the Argentina national soccer team for the World Cup!

Be a part of this fun, worthwhile, and uplifting experience at MIDWEST MISSION in Springfield, IL. No matter your skills or abilities, there is an important job that needs you!
Work activities support disaster relief, educational resources, health initiatives and micro-business. Individuals will be responsible for lodging, transportation and meal costs; participants may apply for financial support from a scholarship through the Asbury Mission Team.

| | Youth Service Trips & Pilgrimages Fundraiser: 144 Envelopes | | |
There's a big board with 144 envelopes attached to it on the wall by the west entrance of the Sanctuary, representing monetary amounts from $1-$144 ($10,441 in all). If all the envelopes are selected, returned, and donations match the amount on each envelope, we will meet our fundraising goals for both the service trips, along with some money to put toward the 2027 Pilgrimages!
Here's how the fundraiser works:
• You decide the amount you would like to give to support the youth service trips and Leadership Lab Pilgrimages to Turkey to follow Paul's travels.
• Select the corresponding envelope(s). For example, if you want to give $50 select envelope #50, or if 50 is no longer available, select envelopes that equal $50.
• Fill out the little card inside the envelope.
• Return the card, your donation, and the envelope to the church. It can be given to Phyllis at the front desk or placed in the offering plate or drop box outside of the finance office.

You will also find blank envelopes on the counter next to the big board where you can make a donation, if the envelopes left on the board do not reflect the amount you would like to give. Or you may give any amount via EasyTithe. If you give online, please select "Youth Missions Trips" from the drop-down menu.

| | | From the Coach: Interfaith Cool KC | | |
I recently attended the kick-off for Cool KC. This organization exists to address rapid heat response for the unhoused population in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. Made up of faith organizations, municipalities, and nonprofit service entities, these heroes mobilize as many resources as possible to address extreme heat events affecting homeless individuals and families.
The meeting was informative, and despite the reasons for being there, the room was filled with optimism and hope. Organizers encouraged the attendees in finding good-fit ways to help with extreme heat events. Whether you have two hours to volunteer, a truck, a building, fiscal resources, people capacity, or just a single case of water, everything is helpful and this is the go-to hub for rapid life-saving responses.
All of this led me to wonder about the number of unhoused people in the Northeast District where I am serving as a Development Coach. Made up of roughly seven counties and covering approximately 2,481 square miles of Kansas, the Northeast District is 3% of the total land mass of Kansas. Yet, according to the 2025 Point-In-Time survey, held annually in January, the Northeast District has 893 unhoused individuals, or 33% of the total unhoused in Kansas. Of course, the eastern side of the state is more densely populated, so perhaps these numbers make sense. But, does it ever make sense to have fellow humans living in encampments, doorways, parks, cars, burned out houses, or on the streets?

During the Cool event, I met up with and immediately joined the Interfaith Coalition for the Unhoused. Like Cool KC, this group is working with a singular focus of bringing together churches, congregations, and the faithful to work across geopolitical boundaries (think state and county lines) to pool resources addressing housing solutions.

The Interfaith vision is a community of faith groups working together with service providers in constant dialog, supporting each other, in connection with what is happening in the larger KC homeless situation so they can help in areas of greatest need. One example might be a church with space for day sheltering or heat response shelter, but no volunteers to staff the space, meeting up with a congregation with plenty of volunteers but no space.
The Interfaith Coalition believes the collective faith communities - working together - within the Kansas City Metro can be a deciding factor in helping our cities overcome the homelessness problem. We have 10 tickets remaining for our August 4 Day at the K (also Dollar Dog Night) at 6:20 pm and tickets cost $29 each.
If you are wanting tickets, please contact Heather Jackson, Director of Family Ministries, ASAP (HeatherJ@visitasbury.org), so that we do not exceed our allotted tickets. Payment can be made through the church office or online via Easy Tithe (select "Other Fund" from the drop-down menu and type "Royals tickets" in the notes line). Tickets will be distributed electronically via the Ballpark app closer to game day.
We will carpool from the church and take both Asbury buses to the game. Depending on how the numbers come out, we might need a few extra drivers. The tickets are available to youth, kids (accompanied by an adult), their families and friends.

11 am: The Nursery is open for children aged infant through 5-years-old (if they haven’t started Kindergarten yet). Children who have started Kindergarten are encouraged to join Children's Church.

Kids PreK - 3rd grade are welcome to join us for Children's Church after the Children's Moment at the 11 am service in the kids' wing (3rd floor east).
We might make a craft, play a game, watch a movie, or learn a new song and dance. No matter the activity, kids will have fun learning and growing together!
