HOPE is the greatest gift, you can give to another person. Supportive, encouraging words relieve fear and despair. In 1 Samuel 2:11, we are told that Samuel "ministers" to Eli, most likely, performing simple tasks like sweeping floors and serving food. Each task was performed with dignity, reminding us even the smallest tasks are dignified in the eyes of Christ. An important mental health tip in this season is to stay focused on sticking to a schedule-call and talk with others, and find ways to exercise. While being sure to follow current health guidelines by staying distanced from others and wearing a mask, get outside! Good nutrition, stretching, and staying connected to others can especially boost your immune system. Like Samuel, find creative ways to do ordinary jobs around your home.

We can all be grateful for the amazing progress on the COVID-19 virus vaccine, which will be available very soon in many nursing homes. Continue to pray for those who struggle with overwhelming fear and isolation, and continue to use your "ordinary" gifts to reach out to others with the gift of hope this season.
The Health Ministry team welcomes your input! We are looking forward to a hope-filled 2021!
