Ascendant’s leadership team is aggressively monitoring the latest developments in the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. We do this while preparing for contingencies around this rapidly evolving situation. Rest assured that the health and well-being of our employees, agency partners, and community are of our highest concern.
Having said this, we also feel a deep sense of responsibility to our producers, insureds and other business constituents to keep our business running as smoothly as possible and without interruption. We recognize the obligation that being a member of the insurance
industry mandates, so that everything possible is done to service our business partners and insureds -- many of whom are small to mid-size businesses most impacted by this situation.
In the ongoing execution of our business, we have been monitoring guidelines regarding social distancing, limited travel, and remote working environments set forth by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC); the World Health Organization (WHO); and federal, state, and local government agencies, including the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.
We continue to operate our business in its normal course. Currently, our business remains fully functional.
Our technology platform allows for us to be prepared in the event that we need to send all company employees home to work remotely. This will not disrupt our operations.
In acknowledgment of this crisis, we have taken some protective measures. In order to protect our agency partners and employees, last week we cancelled all agency visits, agency trainings, and company events until further notice. To promote social distancing, we encourage our agency partners to advise insureds to make use of our online portal and automated phone system to make payments, rather than visiting agency offices. Please note that you can still reach your marketing representative via phone or email at any time, as well as our underwriting, claims, and customer service staff.
To protect our employees, we have also taken the precautionary measures of sending our most at-risk employees to work remotely from home.
In short, we are confident in the measures we have taken to protect our employees, agency partners, and insureds – this while continuing to provide a full suite of insurance products and services, including policy placement and servicing, claims handling, and payment processing.
