Leadership Ascension, like similar programs nationwide, is designed to develop responsible and informed community leaders. Recognized and emerging leaders in the community are selected to represent the diverse demographic of the Ascension Parish Community. The 10-month Leadership Program strives to develop practical leadership skills while promoting personal growth. Sessions are held each month and cover topics including diversity, education, social concerns, health care, law enforcement, project management and government. The program begins with a teambuilding opening retreat and ends with a two-day closing retreat where the class presents their projects that are developed throughout the year.

Thank you to our presenting sponsor EFCU Financial! Also thank you to our Gold Sponsor: The Arc East Ascension, our Member Highlight: Home Instead, and our event host The Clarion Inn & Conference Center! May Session Recap:
LEADERSHIP ASCENSION:
LAW ENFORCEMENT
It was a beautiful day for our last session of the year - Law Enforcement Day! We started the day off with the class participating in shooting exercises with the CRT team at the APSO Firing Range and squad car training exercises at Lamar Dixon. During lunch, the class listened to Sheriff Bobby Webre and Lt. Col. Donald Capello discuss challenging issues faced by the Sheriff’s Office. The next stop was the Parish Prison in Donaldsonville where we toured the jail and listened to a panel of Ascension Parish prison inmates give a personal perspective of life in prison. The day ended back at the training center with an informative crime scene investigation report by Lt. Marc Dufren.
The class thoroughly enjoyed a look inside our Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. Special thanks to Sheriff Bobby Webre and Captain TJ Gaugh for scheduling an amazing day for us!
