To all our parishioners:

We are certainly navigating new waters here. Our usual gatherings to celebrate the Triduum, the heart of our liturgical year, will not take place. It’s nearly impossible for some of us to wrap our minds around this reality. It recalls the words of  We Remember : 'We remember how you loved us to your death. And still we celebrate for you are with us here.'

We do indeed need to celebrate these great feasts. Even though we cannot be together in Church, our Parish Staff (including Fr. Bob Hutmacher) have worked together to bring Ascension and the prayer of our Church into your homes. On our website, and briefly previewed below, are suggested prayer opportunities in which all households of faith may participate. We are providing child-friendly learning and praying opportunities as well as those suited to all ages in the materials we have prepared for this week. The strength of our prayer will be knowing that other Ascension households are participating in some of these same prayers at the same time and that will give us a sense of solidarity. If you can only choose one activity, it is enough. This is just an aid.

On our webpage you will find YouTube links to Scripture Readings relevant to the days of the Triduum, as well as reflections by Fr. Hurlbert and Fr. Bob, music provided by David Anderson and Magaly Cordero, past recordings of Ascension Choir and Schola, as well as additional suggestions to aid your prayer during this Holy Week, and formats for prayer services and ways to engage with the Word throughout your day.

Know that we pray for all of you each day and hold you in our hearts.

We know this is a difficult time for many. This is a uniquely difficult time for our parish as well as we rely greatly on donations received during the offertory collection at Mass. Because we will not be gathering in person we ask you to consider donating online or by mail. If you are able, please make a generous contribution to our Easter collection. Your donation helps support all of the important work we do, and the people who make our opportunities to gather in person or online possible. While we won’t be gathering in person this year, our work continues.

You can donate online to the Easter collection by using a credit card or checking account via our GiveCentral webpage , or by texting 'Easter' to (708) 400-7396 with a smart phone.

Or, you may mail your gifts to Ascension Church, 808 S. East Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60304. Thank you for your generosity!
