Graduate Recognition Sunday

This Sunday, May 21, 2022, Ascension will recognize it's graduates of the 2022-2023 school year during the 10:30 service. Please join us in congratulating them on their accomplishments.

Our participants had a great time

at the WHAM Spring Dash!!

Thank you again to Michelle Feagin for sponsoring the

participants in yesterday’s 5k/1k to support the West Houston

Assistance Ministries. We had a lot of fun!

May 28th is Pentecost Sunday

is Next Sunday!

Wear Red!

We will celebrate the gifts of the spirit on Pentecost Sunday on May 28th. Pentecost is the celebration of the giving of the Holy Spirit to the whole church, the breaking down of walls between us and the sustaining grace calling into union with each other all around the world!!! We ask that you wear red to celebrate this day.

Baptisms

Our next baptism will be held on Pentecost Sunday, May 28, during the 10:30 service. If you, your child, or someone you know is ready for Baptism or would like to learn more, please contact Fr. Mark at mark@ascensionepiscopalchurch.org The baptism application can be found on the website or you can have it sent to you; then fill it out and return it by mail, email, or dropping it in the plate. Ascension will be honored to welcome you to a life of grace through Christ our Lord.

Pentecost Celebration

We will be celebrating Pentecost Sunday with Baptism reception and lunch!! We will be serving hamburgers and hot dogs,

YOU bring the sides and dessert. Mark your calendars and be sure to join us in celebration of the descent of the Holy Spirit!

Whitsunday

Pentecost is also Whitsunday. In accordance with Canon 14.2 of the Diocese each parish is asked to make an offering for the Episcopal Endowment Fund on that date. If you would like to contribute, please use the labeled white envelopes designated for this fund. Checks written directly to the Diocese will be forwarded; checks written to Ascension with “Endowment Fund” in the memo line will be recorded and one large check sent from Ascension.

Monday Bible Study

moves to Tuesday

Monday night Bible Study will be rebooting, and moving to Tuesday nights. Join Fr. Mark and your fellow parishioners on June 6th at 6:30 pm. They study a variety of topics from learning how Christian practices developed, conflicts of belief were debated and addressed, the institution of the Church evolved, and Jesus of Nazareth was transformed into the Messiah. The topic of this study will be announced as the date draws nearer.

Sunday School

Sunday School for both adults and children is every Sunday at 9:30! Adults are gathering in the Church Library, bring your coffee, and will be taught by Fr. Mark. Children and Youth will meet with Allison Garcia in the youth room. (There may be a treat!) Allison needs assistance! If you are able to help even just one Sunday a month, please let her know!

A Simple way to help

Simply put: We need pictures! Of events, of people, of campus! We want to have current pictures of the things that Ascension does to use in publications and to create and maintain a strong social media presence. Ascension has so much to offer….we need to let the world know who we are and what we do! We have created a centralized location for all photos to be sent to. So when you snap a picture at church or a church related event, please, please, forward it to photos@ascensionepiscopalchurch.org. Look through your phone and send us anything you have for the last year, that will at least get us started. :)

On-Going Ministry

Lunch with Friends

Thank you very much to the men and women who have cook for the residents of the Mission. They appreciate you and we appreciate you. There is always room for more members to join this ministry. They meet the first Saturday of every month at the Mission of Yahweh and are organized by Michelle Feagin. Please contact her for more information and to answer your questions.

Fill the Box

Don’t forget to your non perishable donations for WHAM. Let’s fill the box!  Crackers and cheese, fruit cups, canned meat, and canned ravioli are very helpful items. Canned soup and veggies, PB&J, and rice and beans are always needed staples.

WHAM Recycling Center

The recycling station in the Parish Hall accepts paper and plastic bags, egg cartons, condiments, and individually wrapped plastic ware. These items are donated to WHAM and are an excellent way to keep usable items out of landfills. However, we cannot accept newspapers, aluminum cans or plastic bottles, please do not leave these items to be thrown away. You are encouraged to find other ways to recycle these items.

Give the Gift of Sight

All year long, we collect eyeglasses, cases, sunglasses, frames, and lenses -- all things related to vision for donation.  In late January/early February, Constance O’Brien delivers this year long assembly of eyewear  to the Lion's Club in honor of National Eye Month. These glasses are then repaired and distributed in the US and around the world to those in need. The collection box is located near the WHAM food donation bin.

Please visit the following sites to stay up to date on the activities and on-goings of the ministries we support as they continue their vital missions to help those in need.
