Mother’s Day Tea

The Children and administration of Ascension School cordially invite all Ladies of the Church to their Mother’s Day Chapel and Tea. We will meet on May 8th at 9am in the church with a lovely Tea reception to follow. Hope to see you there!

Ascension Feast Day!!

Celebrating our namesake!! We will celebrate Ascension Day on May 17th with Ascension Day readings and a fabulous POTLUCK lunch to follow!! Break out your secret recipes and bring a delicious treat to share. Bring savory dishes, casseroles, salads, and desserts . What ever your heart desires! Mark your calendars and please join us for Ascension Feast Day!!

Graduate Recognition Sunday

Family and Friends, share your good news! On May 31, 2026, Ascension will honor high school, specialty programs, technical school, and college/grad school graduates. This is a very special occasion in your family member's faith journey, so mark your calendars and plan to attend the 10:30am service. We need to hear from you by May 25th with the student's name and a short bio including future plans to be printed in the bulletin. Please email the church office with the names of any family members or friends of Ascension who are Spring 2026/Dec 2025 graduates.

May 24th is Pentecost Sunday!!

Wear Red! - We will celebrate the gifts of the spirit on Pentecost Sunday on June 8th. Pentecost is the celebration of the giving of the Holy Spirit to the whole church, the breaking down of walls between us and the sustaining grace calling into union with each other all around the world!!! We ask that you wear red to celebrate this day.

Whitsunday - Pentecost is also Whitsunday. In accordance with Canon 14.2 of the Diocese each parish is asked to make an offering for the Episcopal Endowment Fund on that date. If you would like to contribute, please use the labeled white envelopes designated for this fund. Checks written directly to the Diocese will be forwarded; checks written to Ascension with “Endowment Fund” in the memo line will be recorded and one large check sent from Ascension.

Bishop Visit

Bishop Monterroso will be visiting Ascension on June 7, 2026. He will celebrate at the 10:30 service. Read his bio HERE. He thoroughly enjoyed our fancy coffee hour, so we will host similarly. Please contribute bite sized pastries or fruit.

Pray for Us!

Members of St. John the Divine have started an Ascension Prayer team composed of people from SJD and Ascension. They meet in-person at SJD (2450 River Oaks Blvd, Houston, TX 77019) in the Parlor from Noon to 1 pm on Wednesdays. All are welcome to join. They are providing a TEAMS link to those who would like to join but can’t do so in-person. Click HERE!!

Announcements

We are looking for individuals who will give the announcements on Sunday mornings at the 10:30 service. Simply go to the lectern during the announcement portion of the service and give a brief synopsis of what is going on in Ascension life. You do not need to read the bulletin to the congregation, just highlight upcoming events and deadlines.
