Ascension's Stewardship Campaign

We are so very grateful for your generosity. On Sunday, at the 10:30 service we will lift the pledges in thanksgiving, asking the Lord to bless Ascensions future and to guide us to do His works. The Vestry will make a budget based on the pledges we receive from you, which will allow us to fund ministries as we all seek to love and serve Jesus Christ.

The Bishop is Coming!

Bishop Monterosso will be celebrating with us on Saturday, December 16 at 5pm and he will preside over the service of Confirmation for all adults who wish to be confirmed as an Episcopalian. Please make plans to attend this Saturday Evening service and celebrate our newest Ascension Confirmands.

Salvation Army “Forgotten Senior” Program: 12 bags left!!

Most of the bags have been picked up; there are just a few left, please, please help these seniors get their needs met!!

Gifts will need to be returned by Sunday, Dec 4th, so they may be placed at the Altar for blessing. The tags have gift suggestions but good common sense comes in handy. There are no limits of how many or how few gifts you place in the bags. ($60 is a good rough estimate per bag, though some big ticket items can cost more.)

After the Angel “tags” are picked up, the gifts purchased and returned to Ascension, they will be picked up by the Salvation Army and distributed to the neediest of “Forgotten Seniors”.  Please give this wonderful program your support to help others who have not been as blessed.

Let’s continue the success of this program!  - Julie Collins

Contemplative Healing

Eucharist w/ Taize’ Music

This is Advent we offer this service on Wed Dec 6th and 20th at 6:15pm to help you rest, heal and let God fill your heart with his healing love as we prepare for the birth of Christ during Advent. It is so easy to get caught up in the busyness and secularism of what has become Christmas. But if we slow down and rest and offer to God all of who we are, we realize that God is here and gives us everything we need.

This service is designed to help us contemplate who we are in Christ Jesus, by receiving an anointing with unction oil to receive God’s Grace and Healing and silently listen to Taize’ music to help us in becoming aware of the Love of God which surrounds us. Taizé (pronounced: tay-zay) is a prayerful form of music known for its simple, yet rich and meditative character. Taizé Prayer is filled with song, scripture and silent meditation. This ecumenical form of prayer is modeled on the style as practiced in the Taizé Community in France. Those who attend regularly find a profound peace and tranquility in this style of prayer.

Please join us as we journey to the birth of Christ during Advent with hopeful expectation.  -Fr. Mark+

Fill the Box

Don’t forget to your non perishable donations for WHAM. Let’s fill the box!  Crackers and cheese, fruit cups, canned meat, and canned ravioli are very helpful items. Canned soup and veggies, PB&J, and rice and beans are always needed staples.

WHAM Recycling Center

The recycling station in the Parish Hall accepts paper and plastic bags, egg cartons, condiments, and individually wrapped plastic ware. These items are donated to WHAM and are an excellent way to keep usable items out of landfills. However, we cannot accept newspapers, aluminum cans or plastic bottles, please do not leave these items to be thrown away. You are encouraged to find other ways to recycle these items.

Give the Gift of Sight

All year long, we collect eyeglasses, cases, sunglasses, frames, and lenses -- all things related to vision for donation. In late January/early February, Constance O’Brien delivers this year long assembly of eyewear to the Lion's Club in honor of National Eye Month. These glasses are then repaired and distributed in the US and around the world to those in need. The collection box is located near the WHAM food donation bin.

Please visit the following sites to stay up to date on the activities and on-goings of the ministries we support as they continue their vital missions to help those in need.
